Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 18. Juli 1916 ab.Patented in the German Empire on July 18, 1916.
The invention relates to electrical coils made of metallic conductors, which are made by a the surface of the metal itself formed oxide or salt layer are isolated, in particular oxide-insulated aluminum coils. The subject of the invention is a reinforcement of this Insulating layer in such a way that the finished, without organic wrapping or gaps Coils wound between the turns, in which the surface of the metal is provided with an oxide or salt coating is to be immersed in a hot enamel bath, whereby the liquid enamelling mass the coil penetrates and the surface of the metal is covered with the enamel layer. The oxide or salt layer that is present on the surface of the metal in the first place is or can be reinforced by special treatment, this facilitates the Penetration of the coil windings, even if they are tightly wound together, and causes the coating on the wire or tape wound into the reel without application organic intermediate layers or leaving artificially enlarged spaces between the turns. Of course, an intermediate layer can also be used under certain circumstances the places with greater potential difference be advantageous.
The method according to the invention differs from known methods for Manufacture of enamel wire coils mainly in that the insulation is used Oxide or salt coating is used here as a means to prevent the coil from penetrating of the liquid enamel. In contrast, the known methods are always special Measures necessary to facilitate the penetration of the enamel mass. So will according to the method of the American patent 873780 one with a wrapping O. The like. Of organic material covered conductor used to provide ways to penetrate the to create liquid enamelling compound. The organic wrapping is burned and leaves cavities between the turns of the coil, so that when you soak again of the coil, the gaps are penetrated by the enamelling compound. Similar is in the process of English patent 26457 from 1903 between the coil leaving a gap between the copper strips so that the enamelling compound can penetrate can. According to the invention, however, it is possible without any space or organic interlayer wound coils by dipping them into the hot enamel bath without further ado on all parts of the

The porous oxide or salt layer that rests on the surface of the metal is, so in this case acts like the organic insulation or like the intentionally left gaps in the known methods. The advantage the method according to the invention is mainly that the loss of space by leaving or creating the spaces between the turns is avoided will.
In particular, the method is applied to coils made of aluminum wires or Tapes are wrapped, with the insulation from being on the surface of the aluminum formed firmly adhering oxide coating. The hot liquid enamel baths, in particular the easily flowing enamels with clay-like additions combine with this oxide coating to a solid mass, so that the turns of the coil are thereby held together rigidly and immovably by the enamel layer will. The aluminum oxide layer, both the one that is naturally present on every aluminum wire and that the artificially induced or strengthened thereupon thus forms a binding agent between the metallic aluminum and the enamel coating.
To carry out the invention one can proceed in such a way that one is done immersed the wound coils in the hot enamel bath, possibly after having previously removed the coils also made hot or with an artificially reinforced oxide or salt layer provided in one of the known ways. It is possible to use the enamel bath in its chemical or physical nature to be chosen so that those on the conductor existing oxide or salt layer is reinforced during the enamelling. So you can Give the enamel bath an additive that has an oxidizing effect on the concerned Conductor metal exercises. As is well known, it is a common mistake in enamel baths, that they have oxidizing effects on the metal to be coated. This otherwise than Defect considered property can advantageously be used here to reinforce the insulation will. The warmth of the enamel bath may also reinforce it the insulation layer. ■ When using aluminum coils you can z. B. expedient heat the enamel bath so high or use an enamel with such a melting point, that when penetrating the coil with the enamel liquid a further insulation of the aluminum enters the surface. Then takes place through the enamelling at the same time a reinforcement of the oxide layer on the aluminum wires or the like. One can also drive the enamel liquid into the coil by vacuum or pressure to to increase the suction effect of the layer as it penetrates the coil.
In the method according to the invention, the property of aluminum is different from to oxidize even in the air, still of special importance insofar as, if on individuals If there is damage to the enamel coating, no exposure of the bare one Metal takes place, but the oxide coating of the aluminum still has an insulating effect or when the enamel cracks off in individual places there is such an oxide layer re-forms by itself.
After applying the enamel coating, you can still improve the Provide insulation by heating the coil, e.g. B. by having a strong sends electric current through it. This causes a temporary softening of the enamel coating, and when it hardens it finds an even stronger one The enamel is united with the reinforced oxide layer underneath, so that the enamel will no longer peel or peel off. Through this subsequent Treatment with the powerful electric current is also the softened one Enamel coating distributed particularly evenly on the surface of the wire.
The process according to the invention gives a coil with double insulation, namely the natural or artificially reinforced oxide insulation o. The like. And on it adhesive enamel insulation, so that the insulation resistance between the turns and layers of the coils is significantly increased, so an insulation that z. B. as a replacement can be used for the otherwise common double wrapping of the wires, the available changing room is fully used for additional insulation so no particularly recessed space is required. This advantage also occurs, if not the whole coil, but only parts that require special protection are provided with the enamel coating.
