Abstract

The cable incorporates an optical conductor for transmission of optical pulses which is enclosed by an outer sheath (4) comprising a plaited mesh (3) with a high tensile strength. The individual wires of the mesh (3) are only coupled to one another at the outer surface (5) of the sheath (4). The optical conductor (2) can slide longitudinally relative to this sheath (4). The wires of the mesh (3) are either made of thermoplastics allowing them to be welded together at the surface (5) of the sheath, or alternatively they are joined together by application of an outer binding layer (7). Pref. a silicon sleeve (8) and a plastics sleeve (9) lie between the optical conductor (2) and the outer sheath.

Description

Lenkkabel für einen mit Lichtsignalen fernlenkbarenSteering cable for a remote steerable with light signals

Missile The invention relates to a steering cable for one with light signals remotely steerable missile, the one detachable from the missile and at least one Has optical waveguide comprehensive cable.

For the remote control of missiles mainly electrical cables are used, the disadvantages due to the interference of the electrical signals to be transmitted electrical: having fields and static electrical charges. One is therefore endeavors to ensure the signal transmission here with known lighting technology to undertake, but so far in the absence of one in lengths of a few kilometers manufacturable transmission cable suitable weight and cross-section as well as a sufficient tensile strength is not feasible.

The invention has for its object to provide a steering cable for the above to create the intended application that meets the high requirements that arise in terms of its tear resistance, its low weight and small footprint is sufficient and with an economically justifiable effort in lengths of a few kilometers can be produced.

This object is according to the invention on a steering cable of the type mentioned at the outset solved in that the optical waveguide of the steering cable is longitudinally displaceable in a is arranged from a braid outer sheath whose threads only are attached to each other on the outer surface.

Further developments of the invention are described in the subclaims.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing, which shows an optical waveguide gradually freed from its sheaths.

The optical waveguide 2 of known embodiment is in the embodiment surrounded by a silicone envelope 8 and a plastic jacket 9 and in this or another known form of construction can be produced in suitable dimensions. In order to achieve sufficient tensile strength for an optical waveguide this or a similar design, this is longitudinally displaceable in an outer casing 4 stored, which can also be produced as a mesh 3 with currently known means and its threads 6 are largely only attached to one another on the outer surface 5 are .. This attachment is by applying a binder 7 on the outer Surface 5 made, which penetrates the braid 3 only to the extent that the Longitudinal displaceability of the optical waveguide 2 is not hindered. In another Form of embodiment, the threads 6 of the sheath 4 consist of thermoplastic material and are only welded to one another on their outer surface 5. At the steering cable ends connection means not shown in the drawing and known per se are provided, introduce the tensile forces that occur only into the outer casing 4. Instead of single-core cable can also be a multi-core embodiment, if necessary eihe embodiment, which additionally contains an electrical conductor, occur.

The advantage that can be achieved with the invention is the inexpensive one Possibility to manufacture a steering cable for remotely steerable missiles with lighting technology See signal transmission path.
