Den Gegenstand der Erfindung bildet eine Kühleinrichtung für Verbrennungskraftmaschinen, deren Zweck es ist, besonders gefährdete Stellen der Wandung des Kompressionsraumes vor der Einwirkung zu großer Temperaturschwankungen zu schützen. Sie ist in erster Linie für Großdieselmotoren bestimmt, bei denen die Wandungen infolge der dort, notwendigen, verhältnismäßig großen Wandstärken gegen hohe Temperaturen besonders empfindlich sind. Hier verursachen nämlich die großen Temperaturschwankungen insbesondere an denjenigen Stellen, an denen die glatten Wandungsflächen unterbrochen sind, also z. B. an den Rändern der Ventildurchführungsöffnungen, unzulässig hohe Materialspannungen, die. ihrerseits Rißbildungen in diesen Wandungsteilen zur Folge haben. Dies wird der Erfindung gemäß dadurch vermieden, daß denjenigen Teilen der Wandung des Kompressionsraumes, welche die Einführungsöffnungen für die Ventileinsätze enthalten, vom Zylinder und Zylinderdeckel unabhängige, auswechselbare, wassergekühlte Kammern vorgelagert sind, durch welche die Ventileinsätze derart frei hindurchragen, daß die Kühlkammern in ihrer Ausdehnung durch die Ventileinsätze nicht behindert werden.The subject of the invention is a cooling device for internal combustion engines, the purpose of which is to protect particularly endangered points on the wall of the compression chamber from the effects of excessive temperature fluctuations.
