Abstract

A passive loudspeaker diaphragm and its beaded suspension are made from polystyrene, by seal-welding the diaphragm to a flexible beading in a mould in a single operation. In a variant, similar but different materials from polystyrene may be used. The beading suspension may be used as a loudspeaker box or wall of the box. This arrangement is extremely economical, costing only a fraction of a typical separate box wall and passive diaphragm.
