The invention relates to a device with a stand-like base frame, which contains a base part and an approximately vertical standpipe, from which a support surface for objects protrudes laterally, wherein the base part is designed in particular to be mobile and/or variable in length. In particular for holding a book or a corresponding device, this device can be held in a reading position inclined to the horizontal, in which the book or the like strikes at least one cantilever strip delimiting the inclined support surface near its lower edge, wherein the support surface is assigned a fastening device for the book resting on it.

The applicant's document DE-U-298 00 280 describes a reading aid -- primarily as a bedside table -- whose support surface consists of two wing-like surface areas arranged at an angle to each other on either side of a vertex line and at least one cantilever bar protruding from the lower edge of the latter, and is connected to the movable foot part by a type of cantilever arm in a height-adjustable manner. These surface areas are provided with rigid clamping strips that can be moved to horizontal rails as fastening devices for a book at right angles to the cantilever bar, under which the book cover can be pushed. A spring leaf fixed on one side also protrudes from each of these clamping strips towards the book, which can cling to the long edges of the book pages.

Also known is a portable lectern for speakers at events or as a bed attachment for hospital beds and a U-shaped support tube, one leg of which serves as an axis for a plate running parallel to it and pivoting around it.

while the other leg is equipped with wheels; if the latter is pushed under a bed as a tube-like chassis, the pivoting plate is located above the bed user as a support surface. The disadvantage of such devices is that they are relatively unstable and not very suitable for use on wheelchairs.

In view of this state of the art, the inventor has set himself the goal of further improving a device of the type mentioned above and making it more suitable for universal use on hospital beds or wheelchairs. When designing it as a reading aid, the main aim is to achieve a more convenient way of holding the book on it.

The teachings of the independent claims lead to the solution of this problem; the subclaims indicate advantageous further developments. In addition, all combinations of at least two of the features disclosed in the description, the drawing and/or the claims fall within the scope of the invention.

According to the invention, a sleeve-like intermediate element is attached axially to the standpipe rising from the base part and is connected to at least one radially extending support surface; this sleeve-like intermediate element can be pushed onto a connecting pin forming the upper end of the standpipe in the manner of an attachment sleeve and can thus be secured in a simple manner. However, in another design it is also possible to provide this intermediate element between two sections of the -- then radially divided -- standpipe that are aligned with one another; in this case the distance of the support surface from the ground is smaller. In individual cases, a combination of both designs is also conceivable.

According to another feature of the invention, the connecting pin of the standpipe is part of a telescopically extendable inner tube associated with a force accumulator, thanks to which the distance of the support surface from the ground can be adjusted.

It has also proven to be advantageous to additionally provide such a sleeve-like intermediate element without a support surface on the device as a slip-on sleeve, on the circumference of which at least one coupling device is arranged for receiving adaptation elements; for example, flat profiles or rods can be inserted which carry infusion bottles or similar medical devices.

The same purpose is served by the possibility of using the interior of a sleeve-like intermediate element attached to the end to accommodate adaptation organs; for this purpose, a cover closing the interior of the intermediate element can be assigned to the free end of the intermediate element and this cover can also be used to accommodate adaptation organs.

According to the invention, a sleeve-like intermediate element made of several axially associated ring elements with a clamping ring as a fastening part at at least one end is optionally used, preferably an intermediate element with a lower base ring and a - with the interposition of a spacer ring

The support surface is, for example, a tray that rests on a support element designed as a holding plate that is clamped between two ring elements. Both can be part-circular surface pieces that, on the other hand, have a straight end contour. It has proven to be advantageous to

This diameter line can also be assigned a straight end edge of another support surface that is also connected to the intermediate element. The support surface is fixed at one end. The tray is equipped with a side edge so that writing utensils, books, games, etc. can be safely placed on the flat tray base. The side edge of the support desk protrudes downwards as a reinforcement; the support surface, which is also flat, is therefore easier to access from the side.

The invention relates to a device for which separate protection is sought; the support surface of which -- which in a manner known per se can consist of two wing-like surface areas arranged at an angle to each other on either side of a vertex line -- is spanned by at least one clamping band of limited elasticity running approximately parallel to the vertex line in order to secure the book or the corresponding device, to which -- directed transversely to it -- is assigned a flat energy accumulator which protrudes at one end from the support surface or surface area and at the other end at least partially overlaps the free support surface or surface area. Thanks to these measures, for example, a book with its stiff cover can be pressed against the support surface by the clamping band and the block of pages can be held resiliently by the flat energy accumulator.

It has proven to be advantageous to design the energy storage device as a leaf spring, which is arranged so that it can move parallel to the cantilever bar, for example, it is mounted so that it can move in a slot running parallel to the cantilever bar or it is fixed to a support element projecting laterally from the support surface. The energy storage device or the leaf spring should preferably be moved either on the support element or -- with it -- on the respective support surface in order to enable adaptation to the dimensions of the booklet or folio to be held.

According to a further feature of the invention, the leaf spring is associated with a contact base -- advantageously fixed by means of a holding member -- of the support surface or the supporting element, and this contact base merges into an intermediate web which is angled longitudinally to it, from which a leaf tongue of the leaf spring projects, which is inclined towards the support surface. The latter is therefore angled twice longitudinally, which considerably improves its pressing capacity.

According to the invention, the free end of the leaf spring or its leaf tongue that bears against the top page of the book or similar should be provided with an attachment made of a non-slip material - for this purpose, it has proven advantageous to form the attachment from an elastomer and/or to provide it with knob-like or rib-like formations towards the support surface. In addition, the attachment contains a preferably molded-on grip tab or similar handle on the outside of the spring, thanks to which turning the pages is made considerably easier.

The function of the above-mentioned stationary clamping band is improved by pushing it onto the support desk and inserting it at one end into a recess in the cantilever bar and at the other end gripping the upper edge of the support surface. To improve its support, the clamping band should interact with a locking device on the support surface at its clamping strips gripping the upper edge of the support surface.

To ensure that the limited elastic clamping band can be used for books of different thicknesses, it may have windows; at least one of these windows contains a compensating piece that can be moved - and sometimes replaced - to change the distance to the support surface. It has also proven to be advantageous to connect the support surface or the support desk to the standpipe of the - preferably mobile - base frame using a joint. All in all, this results in a support device for reading material that makes it extremely easy to use - even to simply turn the pages of a book.

It is also within the scope of the invention that the standpipe is to be designed to be telescopically variable in length by means of a force accumulator - in particular a gas pressure spring - in order to simplify the height adjustment for the support surface(s).

Since the device according to the invention is primarily intended to serve as an additional element for hospital beds and chairs, a lateral attachment tongue on the plate-like foot part is advantageous, which can be fixed as a stop and clamping element under the bed or chair.

A flat base plate 10 of bowl-like design is equipped -- in the area of receiving bushes 12 opening downwards into a plate edge 11 -- with double rollers 14 and with a standpipe 16 protruding from it, which is inserted into a central pocket recess 11 and is held by cylinder screws 18 -- with spring washers 19 interposed.

At the upper end of the standpipe 16 there is a radially projecting grip ball 22 on a sliding bushing 20, with which an inner tube 28 is attached in a telescopically extendable manner, which receives a reducing sleeve 24 and is connected to a gas pressure spring 26 of the standpipe 16 by means of a slotted nut 25.

The parts described belong to a mobile base frame 30 for a support desk 32 sketched in Fig. 3, 4 as a support or bearing surface, which is attached to the reducing sleeve 24 -- which forms a kind of connecting pin. In the retracted position, its minimum distance g from the travel floor B measures approximately 8 00 mm.

The support desk 32 of a height h of here about 310 mm has two plates 34, _34a arranged at an angle w of about 120° to one another with lower cantilever strips 38 of a width b of 30 mm running at right angles to their side edges 36 for a book to be placed on them - the spine of which is indicated at 40 in Fig. 13.

The depth t of the plates 34, 34 _a , which are inclined to each other on both sides of a vertex line 35, measures 125 mm, their width e is approximately 440 mm. At a distance f from the vertex line 35, recesses 42 are arranged on both sides of the upper edge 37 of the plates 34, 34 _a , opposite which are 8 elongated holes 44 in the cantilever strips 3. The latter are provided at a distance i of 3.5 mm from the plates 34, 34 _a . In the horizontal center line M of the plates 34, 34, runs in this-

In addition, this center line M is the geometric location of a fastening tab 48 protruding from the rear of the plate with a threaded pin 50 marking the center of the support desk 32.

Fig. 6 shows that each pairing of recess 42 and slot 44 determines the position of a limited elastic clamping band 52 for the spine 40. 55 designates receptacles for a lighting support (not shown), 56 a grip ball slidably mounted in the slot 46 with fastening screw 57 and associated holder 58 for a leaf spring 70.

According to Fig. 8, 9, an adapter plate 60 is connected to the rear fastening tab 48 by means of a set nut 61; the adapter plate is assigned a bowl-like housing part 62 which carries a joint part 64 for a connection sleeve 66. Spacers are designated by 68, and pressure amplifiers by 69.

A double-angled leaf spring 70 is fixed to the plate 34, 34 a by means of the aforementioned grip ball 56 and the holder 58 with a contact strip 71 parallel to the plate 34, 34 _a . The contact strip 71 of the leaf spring 70 is adjoined by an intermediate web which is angled longitudinally to this

73 which -- together with an elastomer part 74 placed on it -- serves to clamp the book in place under pre-tension. This elastomer part 74 is -- as shown in Fig. 6, 10 -- U-shaped from above with ribs or knobs 75 formed on the inside (Fig. 12) and a protruding grip tab 76. Fig. 12 shows that the leaf spring 70 of the right-hand plate 34 _a is fixed to a laterally projecting web-like support plate 78; the latter is attached to the plate 34 _a with a screw 79, another screw 79 _a connects the support plate 78 to a holding strip 58 _a at the other end.

Fig. 13 to 16 show the clamping band 52 which can be pushed on in the direction of sliding &khgr; with a rear clamping strip 53 which overlaps the upper edge 37 and offers an additional locking mechanism 54. Here it is also clear that the clamping band 52 engages with a hook tongue 51 in the bearing hole 44. In addition, at 80 in Fig. 15, guide lugs are indicated on a compensating piece 81 below a window or opening 82 in the clamping band 52 to reduce the gap distance &eegr; between the plate 34 and the guide lugs 80. That window 82 in the clamping band 52 serves to slidably accommodate the compensating piece 81 for thinner book spines 40 as a distance compensation. Another window 82 _a can be seen in Fig. 13, 14 near the upper edge 37.

An attachment sleeve 84 shown in Fig. 17, 18 can also be pushed onto the connecting pin 24 of the mobile base frame 30. This has a clamping ring 85 at each end and between these a base ring 86, a spacer ring 87 resting coaxially on this and an upper support ring 88 with a height q ₁ -- approximately twice the height h of approximately 2 0 mm of the two lower rings 86, 87. Between the base ring 86 and the spacer ring 87 there is a retaining plate 90 which is partially circular in plan view in Fig. 18 and has a cantilever radius r of, for example, 100 mm. This retaining plate 90 is connected to the base ring 86 by means of screws 89 via screw sleeves 89 _h supporting it and serves to support and fasten a support plate or a shelf 91, which is also in the form of a partial circle and is connected to the retaining plate 90 by means of further screws 89 _a . The straight end edge 90 _k , 91 _k of the retaining plate 90 or shelf 91 in Fig. 18, 20 is determined by a straight diameter D of the attachment sleeve 84. A part-circular indentation extends from the end edge 91 _k of the shelf 91 to accommodate the attachment sleeve 84.

In the embodiment of Fig. 19, 20, on the sleeve side facing away from the retaining plate 90, a piece of a curved channel or U-profile 92 is attached to the circumference of the support ring 88 to accommodate an end edge 94 _k of a -

A slip-on sleeve 84 _a also has end clamping rings 85, which according to Fig. 21, 22 consists of the two rings 86, 87 with a ring plate 96 inserted between them, onto which at least one radial eyelet 96 _a is formed as a coupling device; flat profiles or rods (not shown) can be inserted vertically into this as supports for infusion bottles or the like. The interior 83 of this slip-on sleeve 84 _a - like that of the attachment sleeve 84 in Fig. 17 to 20 - can be closed at the top by means of a cover 97. After removing this, the interior 83 can accommodate the plug end of an additional rod (not shown in the drawing) on which, for example, a drip container or similar medical device hangs. If the cover 97 itself also serves as a coupling element, it can be - not shown - with a radial eyelet 96 a.

A unit consisting of the mobile base frame 30 and the attachment described in Fig. 19, 20 is primarily intended as a table replacement on reclining or seating furniture for sick or disabled people and can be provided with a longitudinally curved retaining tongue 98 shown in Fig. 23, which protrudes laterally from the base plate _10a , for temporary fixation, which can be pushed under a disabled chair (not shown in the drawing) to provide support, for example when the base frame 10, _10a is used. If necessary, the free end of this retaining tongue 98 is designed to be height-adjustable.

The embodiment of the mobile base frame 30 _a according to Fig. 23 contains the sleeve 84 with the laterally projecting shelf 91 and the shell 94 as a component of a standpipe 16 _a divided in a cross-sectional plane; the two sections 17, 17 _a of which are connected to the clamping rings 85, and the slip-on sleeve 84 _a can be placed on its reducing sleeve 24, for example. In this case, a smaller distance ζ of the shell 94 from the travel floor B is created. Furthermore, the base plate 10, 10 _a can also be protected by a cover plate 100, partially shown in Fig. 24.

The shelf 91 or the support surface of the bowl 94 consists, for example, of a formaldehyde-free chipboard which is coated with silver-colored melamine resin or has a wood decor.

Claims (40)

1. Device with a stand-like base frame which contains a foot part and an approximately vertical standpipe from which a support surface for objects protrudes laterally, wherein the foot part is designed in particular to be movable and/or variable in length, characterized in that a sleeve-like intermediate element ( 84 ) is attached axially to the standpipe ( 16 , _16a ) protruding from the foot part ( 10 , 10a ) and is connected to at least one _radially extending support surface ( 90 , 91 , 94 , 94a ₎ . 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the sleeve-like intermediate element ( 84 ) is applied as an attachment sleeve to a connecting pin ( 24 ) forming the upper end of the standpipe ( 16 , 16a ₎ . 3. Device according to claim 2, characterized in that the connecting pin ( 24 ) is part of a telescopically extendable inner tube ( 28 ) of the standpipe ( 16 , 16a ) which is associated with a _force accumulator. 4. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the sleeve-like intermediate element ( 84 ) is provided between two axially associated sections ( 17 _, 17a ) _of the radially divided standpipe ( 16a ). 5. Device according to claim 1, characterized by a _sleeve -like intermediate element ( 84a ) as a slip-on sleeve, on the circumference of _which at least one coupling device ( 96a ) is provided for receiving adapter elements. 6. Device according to claim 5, characterized in that a radially projecting eyelet is provided as the coupling _device ( 96a ). 7. Device according to claim 2 or 5, characterized in that a cover ( 97 ) closing the interior ( 83 ) of the _intermediate element ( 84 , 84a ) is arranged at a free end thereof. 8. Device according to claim 7, characterized in that the cover ( 97 ) is provided with coupling devices for adaptation elements, in particular with radial _eyelets ( 96a ) or coupling recesses. 9. Device according to one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the intermediate element ( 84 , 84a ₎ is mounted rotatably about the longitudinal axis (A) of the standpipe ( 16 , 16a ₎ . 10. Device according to one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the sleeve-like intermediate element ( 84 , 84a ₎ has a plurality of axially associated ring elements ( 86 to 88 ) and a clamping ring ( 85 ) at at least one end. 11. Device according to claim 10, characterized by a lower base ring ( 86 ) and a support ring ( 88 ) with an intermediate spacer ring ( 87 ). 12. Device according to claim 10 or 11, characterized in that the height formed by the base ring ( 86 ) and the spacer ring ( 87 ) approximately corresponds to the height (q ₁ ) of the support ring ( 88 ). 13. Device according to one of claims 10 to 12, characterized in that a support member, in particular a holding plate ( 90 ), which preferably projects in the form of a partial disk, is held between two ring elements ( 86 to 88 ). 14. Device according to claim 13, characterized _in that the support member or holding plate ( 90 ) rests on screw sleeves ( 89h ) which are fastened to the circumference of the ring element ( 86 ) running under the holding plate and receive screws ( 89 ) penetrating the holding plate. 15. Device according to claim 13 or 14, characterized in that an overhanging support surface ( 91 ) in the form of a shelf is fixed on the support member or holding plate ( 90 ). 16. Device according to claim 15, characterized in that an edge ( 90 _k , 91 _k ) of the support member or holding plate ( 90 ) and/or of the tray ( 91 ) is determined by a diameter line (D) of the intermediate element ( 84 ). 17. Device according to one of claims 1 to 16, characterized in that a clamp- or channel-shaped coupling element ( 92 ) projects from the peripheral surface of the sleeve-like intermediate element ( 84 ), in particular from its support ring ( 88 ), for receiving a portion of an end edge ( 94 _k ) of the support surface ( 94 , 94 _a ). 18. Device according to claim 17, characterized in that the support surface ( 94 ) is formed by a bowl with a flat bowl bottom and at least partially laterally projecting edge ( 93 ). 19. Device according to claim 17, characterized in that the support surface ( 94a ) is formed _by a support desk ( 94a ) with _a flat _desk surface and at least partially laterally downwardly projecting edge ( 93a ). 20. Device with a stand-like base frame, which contains a foot part and an approximately vertical standpipe, from which a support surface for objects protrudes laterally for holding a book or similar device in a reading position inclined to the horizontal, in which the book or similar strikes at least one cantilever strip delimiting the inclined support surface near its lower edge, wherein the support surface is assigned a fastening device for the book resting thereon, in particular device according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterized in that in order to secure the book ( 40 ) or similar device, the support surface ( 32 ) is spanned by at least one limitedly elastic clamping band ( 52 ) running approximately transversely to the cantilever strip ( 38 ) and is provided with a flat energy accumulator ( 70 ) directed transversely to this, protruding from the support surface at one end and free at the other end, at least partially spanning the surface area. 21. Device with two wing-like surface areas of the support _surface formed by a support desk arranged at an angle to one another on both sides of a vertex line according to claim 20, characterized in that each surface area ( 34 , 34a ) of the support surface ( 32 ) is spanned by the clamping band ( 52 ) running parallel to the vertex line ( 35 ). 22. Device according to claim 20 or 21, characterized in that the energy accumulator is designed as a leaf spring ( 70 ) and is arranged displaceably parallel to the cantilever bar ( 38 ). 23. Device according to one of claims 20 to 22, characterized in that the energy accumulator is designed as a leaf spring ( 70 ) and is displaceably mounted in a slot ( 46 ) running parallel to the cantilever bar ( 38 ). 24. Device according to one of claims 20 to 22, characterized in that the energy accumulator is designed as a leaf spring ( 70 ) and is attached to a support element ( 78 ) projecting laterally from the support surface ( 32 ). 25. Device according to one of claims 20 to 24, characterized in that the energy accumulator or the leaf spring ( 70 ) is assigned to the support surface ( 32 ) or the support element ( 78 ) with a contact base ( 71 ) and this contact base merges into an intermediate web ( 72 ) which is angled longitudinally to it and from which, on the other hand, a leaf tongue ( 73 ) of the leaf spring projects which is inclined towards the support surface. 26. Device according to claim 25, characterized in that the contact base ( 71 ) _of the leaf spring ( 70 ) is fixed by means of a holding member ( 58 , 58a ). 27. Device according to one of claims 22 to 26, characterized in that the free end of the leaf spring ( 70 ) or its leaf tongue ( 73 ) is provided with an attachment ( 74 ) made of low-slip material. 28. Device according to claim 27, characterized in that the attachment ( 74 ) is provided with knob-like or rib-like formations ( 75 ) towards the support surface ( 32 ). 29. Device according to claim 27 or 28, characterized in that the attachment ( 74 ) is formed from an elastomer. 30. Device according to one of claims 27 to 29, characterized in that the attachment ( 74 ) is provided with a grip tab or similar handle ( 76 ) on the outside of the spring. 31. Device according to one of claims 20 to 30, characterized in that the clamping band ( 52 ) is pushed in a fixed manner onto the support surface ( 32 ). 32. Device according to claim 31, characterized in that the slide-on clamping band ( 52 ) is inserted at one end into a recess ( 44 ) of the cantilever strip ( 38 ) and at the other end engages around the upper edge ( 37 ) of the support surface ( 32 ). 33.
