Subject: Application for a utility model of a medical funnel condom characterized in that it can be disconnected in the middle for the purpose of catheterization.

Problem:

Patients with drip incontinence, e.g. paraplegics and tetraplegics, usually wear a funnel condom that is stuck to the penis using a special skin adhesive and has a tube attachment at the front onto which a sliding or rotating tap ^or a urine bag is attached to collect or drain the leaked urine.

In the patient group in question, the bladder sphincter is so tight for various reasons that spontaneous emptying is not possible, so the urine must be drained intermittently, approximately every four hours, in order to avoid residual urine with the risk of infection.

Previously, the condom was replaced every time the catheter was used, 4-8 times a day, which is inconvenient for the patient, among other things because he always has to carry spare condoms and skin adhesive with him.

This procedure is very costly for those who pay for it, because depending on the type of condom, a price of 6-12 DM per condom must be set. The condom cannot be reused.

Therefore, a possibility should be found to construct a medical funnel condom with a tube attachment for connection;to urine bags or by direct closure using commercially available closures, in such a way that intermittent catheterization is possible without having to change the condom and that, by hand without the aid of tools, it is easy to handle so that|even patients with impaired

Fine motor skills and limited hand grip function can use it independently. Only one condom per day should be necessary. Solution

The condom consists of a tube part -1- Fig.1 which has an approx. 3 mm thick edge at the front (section C-C). This tube part is glued 2/3 to the penis using commercially available skin glue. The front third is guided through the coupling ring -2- Fig. 2 section -B-B to the front and then guided back over the coupling ring and released behind it so that the edge of the condom fixes the ring and the condom completely encloses the ring so that no urine comes into direct contact with the coupling ring, for septic reasons.

The coupling ring -2- Fig.1 Section B-B has an oversize compared to the two condom parts to prevent wrinkles, and in the middle there is a groove that corresponds to the diameter of the edge of the front funnel part -3-Fig.1 Section A-A. All edges are rounded according to the resulting radii to avoid injuries.

The front funnel part -3- Fig. 1 section A-A has an edge that fits into the groove of the coupling ring as described above. The front funnel part consists of a short hose part that then merges into the funnel, which thickens towards the front to the wall thickness of the short hose connection.

The funnel part is finally pushed over the coupling ring, where it snaps into the groove and securely fixes and seals all 3 components Fig.3.

Use:

To use, simply pull off the front funnel part by pushing the sealing ring of the funnel part up out of the groove of the coupling ring -2- with your thumb, then push the retaining ring of the hose part forwards over the coupling ring, remove the coupling ring, pull the hose part back so that unhindered catheterization is possible. After catheterization, push the coupling ring -2- back over the hose part -1-, reach into the hose part -1- from the front with the index and middle fingers of both hands, expand it slightly, push the coupling ring -2- forwards with both thumbs at the same time, let the retaining edge of the hose part -1- snap into place behind the coupling ring -2-. Finally, push the sealing edge of the front funnel part -3- back over the coupling ring and let it snap into the sealing and retaining groove.

A two-part medical funnel condom with a tube attachment and retaining and sealing rings of different thicknesses Fig.1. 2. Catheterizable condom according to protection claim -1-, characterized in that a coupling ring, Fig. 1, part 2, with a sealing and holding groove connects and seals the two condom parts. 3. Catheterizable condom according to protection claim -1-, characterized in that the separation and sealing is not in front of but behind the immediate wet area (funnel), Fig. 3 4. Catheterizable condom according to protection claim -1-, characterized in that the inner diameter of the coupling ring and the condom is so large according to the anatomical conditions that the use of special spreading tools for the purpose of expansion is not necessary. 5. Catheterizable condom according to protection claim -1- characterized in that when using other condoms, after separation into tube and funnel parts, the holding and sealing on the coupling ring is carried out by means of a plastic-coated leg spring.
