Children's high chair with adjustable seat

Children's high chairs, especially for small children, usually have a fixed height for normal tables or interchangeable seat parts in a frame, such as seat and foot plates, which must be individually inserted into slots or holes in the chair frame to adjust the height. A children's high chair is often a combination of a children's table and a children's chair, which are placed on top of each other in a certain way.

The disadvantage is that the chair height cannot be changed, and it is difficult to handle individual seat parts and combinations. All adjustments also involve bending and lifting the child, as none of these standard seats is infinitely adjustable and the level of difficulty is not comparable to that of other conventional seats.

This is the case with the child's often spontaneous desire to move. Another disadvantage is that no normal children's chair allows the child to remain on the seat while it is being adjusted.

The usual chair frames cannot remedy this, as continuous sliding of the seat and the use of an appropriate adjustment mechanism cannot be achieved, also because the individual seat parts can often be replaced separately.

The invention specified in claim 1 is based on the problem of creating a children's high chair system that allows the height of the complete seat unit to be adjusted smoothly over the entire height of the chair and stops at any point.

This problem is solved by the features listed in claim 1.

This invention means that the seat can be moved as a unit, gliding smoothly over the entire height of the chair, and can be stopped at will, and can therefore be adapted directly to the situation and the movement needs of a small child. Another advantage here is the possibility of leaving the child, who is beginning to sit, on the seat while adjusting it, which saves the mother's strength and back and offers the child optimal safety.

The lifting and operating mechanism used here was registered as a belt system for children's beds under the reference number 196 22 937.5 on June 7, 1996.

An advantageously simplified embodiment of the invention is presented in claim 2.

The chair system, which is identical in construction but without the lifting and operating mechanism, also offers continuous seat movement; the seat is equipped with a simple locking mechanism if only a few specific seat heights are required. This results in two efficient versions of one chair system.

Another useful feature of this children's high chair is that the backrest and push-up bar can be swiveled and provide the child with a place to lie down when it has fallen asleep tired from eating and playing.

Embodiments of the invention are illustrated in Figs. 1 to 4.

The children's high chair with adjustable seat consists of the chair frame 1 with the bars 2, as well as the bar bridge % which also serves as the mechanical base, the seat 4 with the side panels 5 and the guide rails 6, the back panel 8 with the handle recess and the footrest 9. The bars 2 are arranged at a slight angle so that in the lower sitting position they do not protrude directly over the child's head.

The belt system described in paragraph 8 of the description is also an ideal lifting mechanism for this children's high chair with adjustable seat. It can be integrated into the respective object in a space-saving manner and is easy and simple to use.

The spar bridge "5 accommodates the lifting and operating mechanism and

the belts 10 are hinged to the side plates 5 on both sides of the seat 4. The operation for the continuous movement and for any stops of the seat 4 is carried out with the crank 11.

In the design according to claim 2, the beam bridge 3 with the entire lifting and operating mechanism is omitted. In this mechanically simplified design, the lateral stabilization is achieved by the seat 4 itself and with the help of the guide disks 12.

The seat 4 is raised or lowered by means of a recessed grip in the back plate 8 and is held at certain seat heights by the locking mechanism 13.

The locking mechanism 13 is operated via the scissors 14, whereby by closing the scissors 14 the latches 15 are pulled out of the hole notches 16 and the seat 4 can be adjusted. By opening the scissors 14 the latches 15 slide on the inner surfaces of the bars 2 when the seat 4 is moved and are pulled into the next hole notches 16 by the springs 17.

The locking mechanism can also be fitted with a Bowden cable whose operating end is located on the handle recess, so that the seat can be adjusted with one hand and the other hand is there for the child's safety.
