Upstand

The invention relates to a mounting ring for skylights or the like, consisting of multi-layer, approximately L-shaped PVC profiles connected to one another via corner joints, each with a leg forming the underside of the ring and a leg pointing upwards forming the inside of the ring.

Such a base ring is known, but when used in conjunction with smoke and heat extraction devices it does not comply with DIN 1832.

DE 296 01 976 Ul describes a curb with an inner shell made of metal, an outer shell and a thermal insulation profile arranged between them. The outer shell consists of a plastic profile. However, the PVC outer skin cannot be produced using a standard production tool for PVC curbs. Instead, a special tool is required.

The invention has the task of creating a curb that complies with DIN 1832 when used in conjunction with smoke and heat extraction devices and can be manufactured using standard tools for producing PVC curbs.

The object is achieved according to the invention in a curb of the type mentioned in the introduction in that the inner side of the curb and the underside of the curb are at least partially covered by a metal skin.

The core of the invention is to provide a conventional PVC upstand with a metal skin, thus complying with DIN 1832 when using the upstand in conjunction with smoke and heat extraction devices. No special tools are required for the production of the PVC profiles.

Preferably, the metal skin is attached to the PVC profiles by means of screws or rivets (claim 2).

In order to keep the mechanical stress on the PVC profiles to a minimum, they can be reinforced with a metal profile in the area of the screws or rivets (claim 3).

In order to prevent the penetration of moisture between the metal skin and the PVC profiles, the upwardly facing edge of the metal skin is advantageously covered by a projection of the PVC profiles (claim 4).

The underside of the PVC upstand, if it is only partially covered by the metal skin, advantageously has a step whose height corresponds to the thickness of the metal skin (claim 5). The upstand then rests completely on the upstand underneath.

In order to reduce the heat transfer to the PVC profiles, there is advantageously a cavity between the metal skin and the PVC profiles, at least in some areas (claim 6).

The cavity can be filled with thermal insulation material (claim 7).

Thermal insulation material 5 can also be arranged in the shell structure of the PVC profiles (claim 8).

Since the upstand according to the invention has a three-layer wall structure, the thermal insulation material in the cavity and/or in the shell structure of the PVC profiles can be dispensed with in subordinate objects, such as storage rooms. This leads to cost savings in the production of the upstand.

An embodiment of the upstand according to the invention is shown schematically in simplified form in the drawing.

The only figure shows a section through a side wall of a curb according to the invention.

The illustrated upstand consists of a conventional, roughly L-shaped, here double-shell PVC profile 1 with an upward-pointing leg la forming the inner side of the upstand (located on the right in the drawing) and a leg Ib forming the underside of the upstand. The inner side of the upstand is fully covered and the underside of the upstand is partially covered by a metal skin 2. The metal skin 2 is attached to the PVC profile with rivets 6 and 7. In the area of the rivet 6, the PVC profile 1 is stabilized with a metal reinforcement profile 3. The underside of the upstand has a step 9 in the outer edge area, the height of which corresponds to the thickness of the metal skin. As a result, the entire support surface of the upstand is in one plane. The PVC profile 1 has a projection 8 on the inside at the upper end of the leg la, which covers the upward edge of the metal skin 2 and prevents moisture from penetrating between the metal skin 2 and the PVC profile 1. Between the metal skin 2 and the leg la of the PVC profile 1 there is a cavity 5, which, like the cavities 4 of the PVC profile 1, can be filled with thermal insulation material.

Protection claims 1. Upstand for skylights or the like, consisting of multi-layer, approximately L-shaped PVC profiles (1) connected to one another via corner joints with a leg (la) forming the inside of the rim and a leg (lb) forming the underside of the rim, characterized in that the inside of the rim and the underside of the rim are at least partially covered by a metal skin (2). 2. Upstand according to claim 1, characterized in that the metal skin (2) is attached to the PVC profiles by means of screws or rivets (6, 7). 3. Upstand according to claim 2, characterized in that the PVC profiles (1) are reinforced with a metal profile (3) in the area of the screws or rivets (6, 7). 4. Upstand according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the upwardly directed edge of the metal skin (2) is covered by a projection (8) of the PVC profiles (1). 5. Upstand according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the underside of the upstand has a step (9) whose height corresponds approximately to the thickness of the metal skin (2). 6. Upstand according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized characterized in that a cavity (5) is located at least in some areas between the metal skin (2) and the PVC profiles (1). 7.
