Description
The invention relates to a molded part for covering openings in fiber optic bundle tube sheaths, wherein the openings for leading cut fiber optic ends out of the fiber optic bundle tube sheath are introduced into the latter.
A cutting tool for producing openings in fiber optic bundle tube sheaths is known from DE 295 18 100 U. This cutting tool consists of a device for guiding the fiber optic bundle tube sheath consisting of the optical fibers and the protective sheath, as well as a knife blade arranged tangentially to the fiber optic bundle tube sheath, which peels off parts of the protective sheath when the fiber optic bundle tube sheath moves longitudinally in the guide. The peeling itself takes place in such a way that damage to the fibers from the fiber bundle is excluded.
From DE 196 12 888 A1, a method for producing cable branches is also known, whereby such cable branches are made on continuous fiber optic supply cables. The fiber optic supply cable is opened, a fiber optic bundle tube sheath is cut and one or more exposed fibers are connected to the exposed fiber(s) from the fiber optic bundle tube sheath of the branch cable. The essence of this technique is that the cable sheath of the fiber optic supply cable is peeled off in two areas that are located apart. The fiber optic bundle tube sheath intended for the branch is then at least partially opened in both areas and the glass fibers intended for the branch are severed in one of the opening areas and pulled out of the other opening area as a fiber length. Each free end of the fiber lengths is then connected to an associated free end of a fiber from the branch cable.
This modern technique of branching off glass fibers from a glass fiber bundle tube sheath requires that the partial openings made in the glass fiber bundle tube sheath are effectively closed again after the individual fibers intended for this purpose have been branched off.
-2--2-
This branching of the individual fibers from the glass fiber bundle tube sheath at such an interface requires a secure guidance of the threaded fibers and a mechanical closure at the interface in order to protect the remaining glass fibers passing through there and also to prevent the gel filling of the glass fiber bundle tube sheath from flowing out.
It should be noted that the cut in the selected fiber optic loose tube sleeve must be made at two locations that are far apart from each other, with the distance corresponding to the distance of the free fiber length to be obtained. The fiber optic loose tube sleeve is opened to a length of approx. 3 to 10 cm using the special tool described above, without damaging the internal fibers.
Then the individual glass fibers to be branched off are cut at one opening and the cut fiber ends are carefully pulled out of the fiber optic bundle tube sheath at the second opening. These two opening areas of the fiber optic bundle tube sheath are then closed again using suitable means.
In order to re-seal the separation point of the individual fiber, it has proven advantageous not to cut off the cutting chip that is created by cutting the fiber optic bundle tube sheath, but to fold it down when closing the opening point and then fix it in the closed position using suitable means. This fixing can be done using a simple adhesive tape, a spiral-slit hose or also with an appropriately shaped molded part.
However, such closure elements cannot be used when resealing the branch point, since in this area it is not easier to close the previously opened fiber optic bundle tube sheath, but the branching of the cut fiber optics must be taken into account.
-3--3-
It should also be noted that the uncut individual fibers of the opened fiber optic bundle tube sheath change their position when the cut individual fibers are pulled out through the gel filling, since the existing excess length of the individual fibers in the fiber optic bundle tube sheath partially relaxes and the excess length forms in the form of a fiber loop above the opening point.
In order to prevent excessive bending or bulging of the uncut individual fibers when closing the branch point and thus an increase in the line attenuation, it is necessary to effectively limit the excess length of the uncut individual fibers emerging from the opening area.
This is where the invention comes in, which has set itself the task of specifying a molded part that closes this sensitive cover area in such a way that kinking and thus damaging line attenuation of the uncut individual fibers is prevented and that, in addition, protected discharge of the cut individual fibers can take place. According to the invention, it is proposed that the molded part is divided into two parts: a base part and a cover part, that the base part on the one hand and the cover part on the other hand delimit an axial feedthrough opening for the fiber optic bundle tube sheath, that the cover part runs between the entrance of the feedthrough opening and its exit in the form of an arch, which, with its deflection, delimits a lumen that corresponds to the permitted bending radius of the uncut glass fibers in the area of the opening, and that feedthrough openings for the cut glass fiber ends are made in the arch.
With the molded part according to the invention, it is possible to cover the branching point of the cut individual fibers in such a way that a negative impact on the uncut individual fibers, which are relieved at the opening point, is avoided and that at the same time threading openings are provided for the pulled-out, cut individual fibers, whereby this embodiment takes place in a protected state.
-4--4-
The bending radius of the uncut individual fibers is limited without exerting harmful constraints on these individual fibers.
The base part and the cover part can be conveniently locked together, but they can also be clamped together using cable ties.
With the locking solution, it has proven to be useful that the base part and the cover part are connected to one another on one side via a film hinge and can be secured to one another via locking devices on the other side. It can also be useful that the entrance and exit of the feedthrough opening are designed in stepped areas for the feedthrough of fiber optic bundle tube sleeves with different cross-sections.
Furthermore, it appears to be essential that the exit openings for the cut glass fiber ends end in a dome-like bulge in the arch. According to the invention, these exit openings are made in the dome-like bulge at an angle to the exit axis of the glass fiber bundle tube sheath, which prevents the permissible bending radius of the glass fiber ends from being exceeded when the cut glass fiber ends are led out of the lumen of the arch. Finally, glass fiber protection tubes can be inserted into the exit openings of the arch.
Finally, it is considered an advantage that the individual parts of the molded part are made of transparent material so that the position of the individual fibers inside can be controlled. Polyethylene types, for example, are suitable for the production of the individual parts of the molded part, as they are translucent and can be adjusted flexibly within certain limits.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the molded part according to the invention in section. The molded part 1 consists of the individual areas base part 11 and cover part 12. The base part 11 and the cover part 12 are fixed to one another via locking elements 2, 3, 4.
Base part 11 and cover part 12 define feedthrough openings 111, 112 which enclose a glass fibre bundle tube sheath 5. This glass fibre bundle tube sheath is opened in the lumen 121 of the moulded part 1 in the partial area AA by cutting. The chippings produced during the opening are separated in this case.
the cut ends of the individual fibers 51, 52 are led out of the lumen 121 of the molded part 1 through the openings 122, 123 of the cover part 12. Glass fiber protection tubes 6, 7 are inserted into the openings 122, 123, which protect the ends of the individual fibers 51, 52 in the exit area.
Die nicht geschnittenen Einzelfasem 53, 54 der Glasfaserbündeladerhülle liegen im entspannten Zustand im Lumen 121 des Formteils 1.The uncut individual fibers 53, 54 of the fiber optic buffer tube sheath lie in the relaxed state in the lumen 121 of the molded part 1.
