Motor vehicle seat with two parallel joint fittings

The invention relates to a motor vehicle seat according to the preamble of claim 1.

A known motor vehicle seat of this type (DE 27 38 599 B2) is designed as a locking fitting. The operating lever of this locking fitting also serves to actuate a locking device for the upper fitting part in the use position of the backrest. Such a coupling of the inclination adjustment with the folding adjustment is disadvantageous. In addition, it can only be implemented if the inclination adjustment of the backrest is carried out via a locking adjuster with coarse adjustment steps.

Based on this state of the art, the invention is based on the object of designing a motor vehicle seat of the type assumed to be known in such a way that it can be used to

The backrest tilt can be adjusted and the backrest folded by operating different operating elements and the backrest tilt can be adjusted in small steps or even continuously, whereby the fittings should be simple, light and yet stable.

This problem is solved with the features of claim 1.

Preferred embodiments of the invention are described in the subclaims.

The provision of lever-operated latches that can be pivoted around horizontal axes on both sides of the seat also allows their operation to be coupled particularly easily. In addition, latches that can be pivoted around horizontal axes provide a way of quickly and effectively locking the upper fitting part and the lower fitting part against each other or unlocking them for folding the backrest forward. In addition, a particularly good flow of force is achieved because the forces to be dissipated from the backrest frame are dissipated within very closely spaced planes, the distance between which is determined exclusively by the material thickness of the upper and lower fitting parts.

The main seat components are shown in Figure 1. A backrest frame designated 1 has a back side la. The backrest frame 1 is welded with its side cheeks to the upper fitting parts 2 or 2'. The upper fitting parts 2 or 2' are hinged to the lower fitting parts 3 or 3' via bolts. The upper fitting parts 2 or 2' have stop bolts 5 or 5'. These stop bolts 5 or 5' rest on the upper edges 3a or 3a' of the lower fitting parts 3 or 3' when the backrest 1 is in use. The lower fitting parts 3 or 3' are connected to rotary adjusters 7 or 7' (not shown in detail). The rotary adjusters 7 or 7' are in turn connected to joint parts 4 or 4' fixed to the seat part. The adjustment movement of the rotary adjusters 7 or 7' is introduced into the fittings via a handle 12 and passed on from one fitting to the opposite fitting by means of the drive rod 13.

The inclination adjustment between the seat-mounted joint part 4 or 4' and the lower fitting part 3 or 3' determines the inclination of the backrest in the position of use.

The backrest 1 can be folded forwards about the pivot pins 11 and 11' when the locking between the fitting parts 2 and 3 on the one hand and 2' and 3' on the other hand, which is effected by latches 14 and 14', which are hinged to the lower fitting parts 3 and 3', is released.

The pawls 14 and 14' are firmly connected to outward-facing bearing bolts 9 and 9', which are rotatably mounted on the lower fitting parts 3 and 3'. The bearing bolts 9 and 9' are surrounded by torsion springs 8 and 8'. An actuating lever 6 is attached to at least one bearing bolt, with the help of which the pawls 14 and 14' can be pivoted. The pawls 14 and 14' have inward-facing bends 14d and 14d', which engage in a form-fitting manner in a tube 15 that runs parallel to the pivot axis 16 of the rotary adjuster 7. The pawls 14 and 14' are designed as angle levers. The pawl 14' in particular is shown in more detail in the drawings. It has (see Fig. 5) an angle leg 14a' pointing downwards and a leg 14b' pointing forwards.

The pivot axis 14e' coincides with the center axis of the bearing pin 9'.

The torsion springs 8 and 8' engage the pawls 14 and 14' respectively in such a way that, when viewed in the direction shown in Figure 5, they

Pre-tension the pawls clockwise. This ensures that the locking surfaces, of which 14c' is visible in Figure 5, rest against the corresponding counter surfaces, of which the counter surface 2a' is shown in Figure 5.

In Figure 5, a pivoting movement has been applied via the actuating lever 6 against the preload force of the torsion spring 8 or 8', which has led to the pawls 14 or 14' pivoting freely.

The backrest 1 can now be folded forward and after releasing the operating lever 6, the latches 14 and 14' assume their original pivoting position which they had assumed when the backrest 1 was in the position of use.

The backrest 1 can be pivoted so far that the rear side la is at least substantially horizontal.

When the backrest 1 is swiveled back, the downward-pointing lugs of the upper fitting parts 2 or 2' initially push the latches 14 or 14' out of the swivel path. As soon as the stop bolts 5 and 5' rest on the upper edges 3a or 3a' of the lower fitting parts 3 or 3', the latches 14 or 14' can swivel back into their locking position, in which they are visible in Figures 1 and 2.

Claims (8)

1. Motor vehicle seat with two joint fittings parallel to one another, with a joint part (4; 4') fixed to the seat part and a joint part which can be pivoted about a horizontal axis (16) and which is associated with the backrest (1), wherein the pivotable joint part has an upper fitting part (2; 2') fixed to the backrest, which is hingedly articulated to a lower fitting part (3; 3'), and wherein the lower fitting part (3; 3 ¹ ) is connected to the joint part (4) fixed to the seat part so as to be pivotable about the horizontal axis (16),
characterized, that the upper fitting part (2; 2') has a stop area which, in the use position of the backrest (1), rests against a counter area of the lower fitting part (3; 3'), and that a spring-loaded, lever-operated latch (14; 14') is provided on the lower fitting part (3; 3'), which can be pivoted about a horizontal axis (14e; 14e'), which, under spring preload, rests against a counter surface (2a; 2a') of the upper fitting part (2; 2') in the use position of the backrest (1) and fixes the backrest (1) in the use position, wherein the latch (14; 14') is used to release the upper fitting part (2; 2') and thus the 427a *..'\. ^# *..'.:.. ..* »·' 05.02.1999 The backrest (1) can be pivoted from its locking position in such a way that its rear side (la) is aligned at least substantially horizontally in the folded-forward state, the latches (14; 14') of both joint fittings being rigidly connected to one another by means of a connecting element. 2. Motor vehicle seat according to claim 1, characterized in that the connecting element for the pawls (14; 14') is a tube (15) running parallel to the horizontal axis (16). 3. Motor vehicle seat according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the latch (14; 14') is designed as an angle lever and has a bend (14d') engaging in the tube (15) and pointing towards the center of the backrest. 4. Motor vehicle seat according to one or more of claims 1 to 3, characterized, that the spring preload on the pawls (14; 14') is generated by means of torsion springs (8; 8') which are mounted on an outward-facing bearing pin (9; 9') of the pawl (14; 14'), which has an actuating lever (6) bears. 5. Motor vehicle seat according to one or more of claims 1 to 6, characterized, that a rotary adjuster (7; 7') is arranged between the joint part (4) fixed to the seat part and the lower fitting part (3; 3'). 8. Motor vehicle seat according to one or more of claims 1 to 7, characterized, that the pawls (14; 14') as well as the upper fitting parts (2; 2 ¹ ) are arranged essentially within the same plane on the inner sides of the lower fitting parts (3; 3').
