Herkömmliche Freiluftschaltanlagen in der genannten Spannungsebene erfordern einen sehr großen Platzbedarf, welcher dadurch entsteht/daß Schaltgeräte, Wandler und sonstige Komponenten auf.einer gesonderten Gerüstkonstruktion und somit auch auf gesonderten Fundamenten montiert sind, welche vor Ort gegossen werden müssen. Auch die Einspeiseportale, müssen bei der konventionellen Bauweise gesondert fundamentiert werden.
