The innovation concerns a construction element that absorbs structure-borne and airborne sound and is used in road, railway and bridge construction, but also in residential construction as an independent molded body or for lining or as a component of walls and as a floor slab. The construction element according to the innovation can also be used advantageously as a component of foundations or to enclose sound-generating machines such as shears, punches or compressors.
The starting material for the main fraction is preferably vehicle tires that are no longer needed, which are only roughly processed and can therefore be used economically.
It is already known to place loose fills of granulated waste rubber between two solid layers for sound insulation. These plate-shaped elements are expensive to produce and have only a limited load-bearing capacity. The element shape is also determined by the outer plates and is therefore largely limited to flat designs. A major disadvantage of such construction elements is that airborne sound is only slightly absorbed by the smooth surfaces.
The production of known components from waste rubber from vehicle tires requires the separation of the cord fiber fraction contained in the tire. This non-degradable textile component can only be processed with great effort because the fibers are in the form of fine fluff.
Known components made of bound rubber granules also have the disadvantage that the old rubber has to be shredded into small particle size, which is energy-intensive. Due to the large surface area of the rubber particles per unit volume, a high proportion of resin is required to ensure sufficient bonding between the rubber particles.
However, the higher the resin content, the higher the costs, so that such designs are expensive.
The innovation is based on the task of developing a component for absorbing structure-borne and airborne sound, which can be used in a variety of ways thanks to its variable design, whose properties can be controlled by process parameters, which allows the waste-free recycling of only roughly processed scrap rubber, in particular from used vehicle tires, and which can be produced economically.
According to the innovation, the problem is solved in that the structural element, designed as a solid or hollow profile, consists of compacted coarse rubber granulate and a proportion of 3% to 40% by weight of PU resin as a binding agent and has a density of at least 0.6 g/cm 3. The main fraction of the coarse rubber granulate preferably has a particle size of 12 mm to 18 mm. A further embodiment provides that the structural element additionally contains inorganic or organic fillers up to 45% by weight. Depending on the area of application, a multi-layer structure consisting of a core and a casing is proposed as a preferred variant. The casing can consist of a plastic, a PU resin enriched with coarse rubber granulate or only of PU resin. This type of casing can be combined with a core made of a compacted mixture of coarse rubber granulate, 3% to 40% by weight of PU resin and up to 45% by weight of organic or inorganic fillers. The core can also be made of compressed rigid foam.
If inherent stability is required from the component, another design provides for the arrangement of fabrics or profiles made of metal or plastic in the component.
The new building elements may contain additional suitable elements made of metal or plastic for attachment to a supporting structure or for connection to the subsurface,
Another variation involves geometrically structuring the surfaces exposed to airborne sound, e.g. by means of prismatic elevations.
Die Neuerung wird im folgenden an Hand von Beispielen näher beschrieben:The innovation is described in more detail below using examples:
The component for absorbing structure-borne sound consists of a mixture of coarse rubber granulate with a particle size of approx. 15 mm, 15% by weight PU resin and 10% by weight organic fillers. Densities of 0.6 g/cm 3 to approx. 0.8 g/cm 3 are sufficient for the intended application. The surface is relatively even.
A new construction element for preferential absorption of airborne sound has the composition mentioned in example 1, but has a density of 1.0 g/cm 3 . This higher compression leads to a coarse structure of the surface of the construction element, the rubber particles partially penetrate through the resin to the outside. A surface profiled in this way is well suited to absorbing airborne sound. The example shows that by changing the compression process parameter, the properties of the construction element can be largely adapted to the area of application.
The cuboid-shaped component consists of a core made of compressed rigid foam, which is surrounded by a shell consisting of coarse rubber granulate and 50% by weight PU resin.
The core contains a steel mesh to increase mechanical stability. This type of structure is particularly suitable for components that have to meet both sound-absorbing and structural requirements, e.g. as part of machine foundations.
The example tubular component consists of rubber granulate, 12% by weight PU resin and 15% by weight textile fibers. The component contains flat irons that are used to attach the component to a substrate. !Such hollow profiles are characterized by reduced material usage and low weight.
A particular advantage of the new component is that it uses the textile component that is created during various processes, particularly during the processing of old tires. Since for many applications even small amounts of resin in the component are sufficient for its functionality, it is also very cost-effective, especially since inexpensive resins can be used. Depending on the shape and size, the component can be produced both continuously and discontinuously.
By using different materials for the core and casing and by influencing the structure of the surface through compaction, a wide range of applications can be opened up for the component that absorbs airborne and structure-borne sound.
