In Funkalarmanlagen werden alle Signale zwischen den Meldungsgebern und der Alarmzentrale durch Funk übertragen, wobei die Sender aus Batterien gespeist werden und rechtzeitig vor der Erschöpfung der Kapazität ein Statussignal an die Alarmzentrale absenden. Im Gegensatz dazu benötigt der Signalgeber, der in der Regel aus der Kombination einer Sirene mit einer Blitzlampe besteht, eine Stromeinspeisung.
