Das Kassenpersonal erwartet einen freundlichen und ergonomischen Arbeitsplatz ohne physischen oder psychischen Streß während des üblichen Arbeitsprozesses. Ebenso unfreundlich ist, daß der Kunde vor dem sitzenden Kassenpersonal stehen muß. Das Schieben oder Ziehen der Waren über den Etikettenscanner führt zu einseitigen körperlichen Belastungen bis hin zu Überlastungen, wenn es sich um schwerere Waren handelt. Sind die zu erfassenden Waren so schwer oder sperrig, daß sie nicht über den in den Registriertisch integrierten Scanner geführt werden können, sondern mit einem Handscanner, einem sogenannten Touchreader, erfaßt werden müssen, so ist dies nur mit Verrenkungen möglich, weil der Registriertisch den Zugang zu den Waren versperrt. Die Tatsache, daß der Kaufpreis an derselben Stelle kassiert wird, an der auch die Waren erfaßt werden, während der Bereich, in dem der Kunde seine Waren einpacken kann, sich in einiger Entfernung davon befindet, führt zu einem unlogischen Verfahrensablauf, der den Kassiervorgang hemmt und unehrlichen Kunden die Möglichkeit eröffnet, mit der noch nicht bezahlten Ware zu verschwinden.The current commercially available checkout tables only partially meet these requirements.
