Für den Versiegelungsvorgang ist es dabei zunächst erforderlich, das versiegelbare Beutelmaterial zu erwärmen, wofür, soweit bekannt, bislang ausschließlich sogenannte, innerhalb der Heizstation angeordnete und mit inneren Heizwiderständen ausgestattete Heizkeile verwendet werden, die am Beutelmaterial beim Durchlauf im Bereich des Beutelöffnungsrandes in der Regel von oben und unten schleifend anliegen, um dabei eine gute Wärmeübertragung zum Beutelmaterial zu gewährleisten. Um dies zu vermeiden, werden die Heizkeile üblicherweise mit einem eine Verklebung verhindernden Material, wie Teflon, beschichtet. Durch den direkten, aber unter Reibung stattfindenden Kontakt zwischen Beschichtung und Beutelmaterial kommt es aber früher oder später zu Abriebserscheinungen an der Beschichtung, die dann von Zeit zu Zeit ausgetauscht werden muß. Reflexionszahl teilweise absorbiert bzw. entsprechend reflektiert wird, woraus wiederum folgt, daß bei dem zu versiegelnden Beutelmaterial ein Großteil der eingebrachten Heizleistung zur Erwärmung des Beutelmaterials in diesem unmittelbar selbst wirksam wird und dementsprechend nur ein geringer Wärmeverlust bzw. auch nur eine geringe Erwärmung des Gerätes selbst entstehen kann.
