Carrying handle

Carrying handles for bags, suitcases and luggage should be as low as possible when not in use, so that they do not take up unnecessary space when stacking or storing (e.g.: pushing into a narrow, low compartment). Conventional handle designs for bags, suitcases and luggage solve this problem by having rigid handles that fold away either lengthways or crossways, or by making them from flexible materials (e.g. leather, springs, straps, etc.). Stable handle designs are not ideal from an ergonomic point of view, as they do not adapt to individual hand sizes and shapes. Handles made from exclusively flexible material have the disadvantage that they bend depending on the weight of the bag, even to a smaller radius than the hand normally allows, which causes it to be squeezed.

The invention specified in claim 1 is based on the problem of developing a carrying handle that folds up small when not in use and, despite its dimensionally stable shape, has an all-round soft, ergonomic carrying comfort.

This problem is solved with the features listed in claims 1-2.

The small/large functions of the handle are solved by the eccentric suspension and the associated positions above/below the handle bar. The soft wearing comfort with dimensional stability is achieved by using a suitable plastic foam in a frame, which together forms the handle bar.

An advantageous embodiment of the invention is specified in claim 3.

The further development according to claim 3 for the possibility of attaching a carrying strap allows a shoulder strap to be attached to the bag, whereby the oval rail adapts to the curve of the flap of the bag.

The figures show the complete carrying handle with handle bar (1), consisting of frame (2) and soft handle element (3), the handle holders (4) with rail (6) screwed through the flap of the bag (5) and their functional elements (7) for attaching a strap.

Claims (1)

• Protection claims: Carrying handle for bags, suitcases and luggage characterized, that a handle bar (1) with an elliptical cross-section is mounted eccentrically in handle holders (4) freely swinging, whereby the distance to the bag/case changes when the handle bar (1) is turned. Carrying handle according to protection claim 1. characterized, that a handle element (3), preferably made of soft foamed plastic, is inserted into a frame (2), which together forms the handle bar (1). Carrying handle according to protection claim 1.-2. characterized, that the handle holders (4) are screwed to a rail (6) with an oval cross-section through the flap of the bag (5) and that the rail (6) has a functional element (7) (long hole, screw, adapter or similar) at its respective ends that allows a shoulder strap to be attached.
