The invention relates to a room monitoring system with a central station and at least one electronic warning device or detector that emits a signal when a certain event occurs. In particular, the system includes warning devices for protecting buildings against burglary, fire, escaping gas, water damage and the like. The signal emitted by the detector is used to trigger a visual or acoustic alarm, to activate a sprinkler system, to call a control center by telephone and so on.
Both infrared motion detectors and infrasound detectors are commonly used for burglar alarms. Infrared motion detectors respond to thermal radiation that changes over time (space) and are therefore only suitable to a limited extent for use in occupied rooms, as they also react to radiation emitted by residents and pets.
Infraschallmelder sprechen auf Druckstöße an, wie sie beim öffnen von Türen oder Fenstern infolge Druckausgleich zwischen Innenraum und äußererInfrasound detectors respond to pressure surges, such as those that occur when doors or windows are opened as a result of pressure equalization between the interior and the exterior.

Umgebung entstehen. They are therefore only suitable for monitoring indoor spaces. Their disadvantage is the high price, so that generally only one detector is used for an apartment or house, which then has to be set to a correspondingly sensitive level. False alarms are therefore common.
The connection between the warning device and the central station, which processes the message sent by the detector, is established either via a separately installed network or via radio. Both methods are complex and susceptible to interference.
The invention aims to create a room monitoring system that is inexpensive to manufacture and install and is less susceptible to false alarms.
The invention, as defined in claim 1, is based on the idea of providing a number of relatively insensitive and thus inexpensively manufactured detectors as close as possible to the area to be monitored instead of an expensive, highly sensitive detector, whereby additional installations for their power supply or for signal transmission can be omitted by plugging them into nearby sockets. Infrasound detectors as burglar alarms will be placed near doors and windows, gas detectors near a gas heating system, and so on. The detector signals are standardized for processing by the central station, regardless of the sensor used. Preferably, each detector is assigned its own transmitted code that identifies its location.
Inserting it into an existing socket also makes it possible to equip the detector with a battery power supply of only a small capacity, which can, however, be continuously recharged from the mains supply.
The detector itself can be designed as a socket so that a socket it occupies can continue to be used.
The attached drawing shows a detector according to the invention, namely in Fig. 1 in plan view, in Fig. 2 in front view.
The detector comprises an essentially parallelepiped plastic housing 10, onto which a plug part 12 in the form of a protective contact plug is integrally formed. The sensor part 14 of an infrasound detector (selected as an example) can be seen on the front. There is also a protective contact socket 16 on the front, which can be connected to the plug part 12; alternatively, this connection can be made as soon as the relevant detector responds.
