Device for moving people

The innovation relates to a device for moving a (disabled) person, which device comprises a column which is vertical during use and which is provided with lifting means for this person which are attached to it and can be adjusted relative to it, which column is provided with displacement means which comprise a horizontal swivel arm, which on the one hand can be attached in an articulated manner to a building or the like about a substantially vertical axis and on the other hand is attached to the column.

Such a device is known from the American patent specification 4,998,305. This describes a swiveling shower stool. This swiveling shower stool is connected via a swivel arm to a piston that must be clamped between the floor and ceiling of the shower device.

With such a device, a patient can be moved under a shower. However, it is not possible to transfer people from a sitting position in one device to a sitting position in another device. For this purpose, the so-called "steel nurse" is proposed according to the state of the art. Such a device generally consists of a mobile base on which one or more columns are attached. Lifting bars that can be adjusted relative to them or not are attached to these columns, with the intention that the patient supports himself on the lifting bar in some way. This can be achieved, for example, by means of a lifting loop that is attached to the fork-shaped ends of the lifting bar.

Such devices can be used to transfer patients from a chair to a standing position and move them over a certain distance before being placed on another chair or piece of furniture. These devices can also be used to move people into and out of a lying position.

Although such devices function well

the problem is that there are not always enough such devices. Another problem with such devices is that they take up a relatively large amount of space and that moving these devices is particularly problematic in confined spaces. Due to this limited maneuverability, in many toilet rooms, for example, it is still necessary for nursing staff to use human power to transfer a patient from a wheelchair to a toilet seat and vice versa.

The aim of the present innovation is to improve the device described above in such a way that, when not in use, it can be stored in a space-saving and hardly obstructive manner, is easy to operate without being unstable, and that the special movement required to transfer a patient from a wheelchair to a toilet seat and vice versa in a confined space can be carried out.

This object is achieved in a device described above in that the column is provided with a base plate and at least one of the parts movable relative to the building or the like is provided with braking means.

The innovation is based on the understanding that the lifting device is installed in a fixed location. This means that the device can basically only be used in one place after the innovation thanks to the articulated swivel arm, which in turn is firmly connected to the building.

This ensures that such a device is always available at the location in question.

By using the swivel arm, which is attached to the building, a particularly stable construction is obtained, whereby any risk of the device tipping over with the patient, especially when the patient is in an upright position, is safely excluded.

By using the swivel arm, the movement of lifting a patient from a chair and positioning them on the

for example, a toilet seat or in a bathroom. This means that the device according to the invention can be used in toilet rooms that are equipped in accordance with the guidelines prescribed by the individual authorities.

The design according to the invention also makes it possible to tidy up the device after use in a particularly space-saving and hardly obstructive manner. The patient can stand on the foot plate, whereby the swivel movement can be controlled by the presence of the braking means.

According to an advantageous embodiment of the innovation, the fastening to the column comprises a hinge fastening. In this way, when the swivel arm is in a stationary position, the lifting device can be positioned around a vertical axis.

It is possible to design the lifting device in any way known in the art. According to one design, the column consists of two parts, the first part of which is attached to the swivel arm in a hinged or non-hinged manner and the second part of which is adjustable in height relative to the first part. Such a design can be combined with a hinged or non-hinged lifting bracket.

In the embodiment described above, the base plate is preferably mounted on the first part connected to the swivel arm.

The swivel arm according to the invention can be designed in different ways. The simplest design is a straight swivel arm. In practice, this proves to be not particularly practical and for this reason, according to a further embodiment, it is proposed to design this swivel arm as a curved arm, which consists of two parts firmly connected to one another at an angle. In this way, on the one hand, a minimum space requirement for storing the lifting device can be achieved, and on the other hand, an optimal positioning can be achieved in relation to the object of the lifting device. basin, bath, etc.

According to a further advantageous embodiment, the lifting arm is designed to be articulated. In addition, the lifting arm can be connected to a part that may or may not telescopic.

In order to achieve maximum stability, according to a preferred embodiment of the innovation, the swivel arm is designed with braking means that can be activated or deactivated near at least one of the hinge points. This makes it possible to make a hinge point "fixed" and thus make it easier to move the patient. This also prevents the patient from moving at an irresponsible speed or hitting something.

Articulated movement of the swivel arm on the lifting device can be realized in different places. A first possibility is that the hinge point is installed in the axis line of the lifting device and in particular the lifting column. According to another embodiment, the articulated movement is installed near the side of a foot plate if there is a foot plate.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the innovation, the braking means are installed in the foot plate. The braking means are preferably designed as lowerable blocks. These can be operated with a motor.

The innovation is explained below using the examples shown in the drawing. Shows:

In Figures 1 and 2, a first embodiment of the device according to the invention is shown in different positions and is designated as a whole by 1. This consists of two parts, namely a swivel arm designated as a whole by 2 and a lifting device designated as a whole by 3. This lifting device can comprise any lifting device known from the state of the art.

The swivel arm 2 is attached to the floor 4 via the fastening 5 and the hinge 6. In the hinge 6 there can be a braking mechanism (not shown in detail) which can be actuated by means of the part 7 in order to lock this hinge or to brake the swivel movement of the swivel arm. The swivel arm 2 consists of two parts, of which the right-angled part is designated 8. This part is provided with a hinge 9 at the free end, which is on the other hand attached to the base plate 10 of the lifting device 3. The base plate 10 is firmly attached to the fastening column 11. The lifting column 12 is telescopically inserted into the fastening column 11. A lifting bracket 13 is attached to the lifting column 12 in an articulated manner. This lifting bracket 13 is fork-shaped and the free ends of it are connected to the free ends of a lifting loop.

The lifting column 12 can be moved up and down by means of a motor (not shown in detail) with a gas spring 16. The lifting bar 13 is adjustable by means of the cylinder 15. The lifting column 12 is provided with a knee support 17. 20 represents a toilet bowl on which the patient in question is to be positioned.

The device described above works as follows. Starting from the position shown in Figure 2, the lifting bracket 13 is attached together with the lifting

column 12 is moved downwards and, for example, a wheelchair (not shown) with the patient is moved in front of the lifting device. The lifting loop 14 is then released from one of the fork-shaped arms of the lifting bar 13 and guided under the armpits over the patient's back.

The lifting bar 13 is then moved upwards, whether or not together with the lifting column 12, whereby the patient, after placing his feet on the plate 10 and resting his knees on the knee support 17, is brought from the sitting position in a wheelchair into a hanging or standing position. The lifting bar 13 is guided into the position shown in Figure 2, whereby the patient is brought into a standing position.

Then both the swivel arm relative to the fastening 5 and the lifting device relative to the swivel arm are moved into the position shown in Figure 1. The lifting bar 13 or the lifting column 12 are moved downwards so that the patient can sit on the toilet seat.

When moving in or out of the lifting device, the brakes that may be present in the hinges of the swivel arm 2 can be used to keep the movement as controlled as possible.

The construction shown here makes it possible to permanently store a lifting device in a toilet room, for example, in a very space-saving manner. The construction is also very stable when moving a patient.
Figure 3 shows a possible embodiment of the braking means. It shows a section through the swivel arm 2 near the hinge 6.

A coil 35 is also provided. Applying voltage to this electrical coil causes the ends of the locking bars 32 to move towards each other against the action of the bowl 34, so that the locking pins come out of the openings 29 and the disk 28 can rotate freely.

This means that when the coil 35 is not loaded, the locking pins 33 are always driven against the disk by springs 34 and as soon as an opening in the disk is found, the pins engage in this opening so that a locking is immediately effected.

In this way, it is possible to lock the pivot arm 2 in a series of discrete positions relative to the mounting 5, while ensuring absolute reliability and requiring positive intervention to cancel the unlocking with the coil 35.

It will be clear that such a construction can also be present at the other end of the pivot arm 2. In addition, it is possible to use any other braking constructions known in the art.

Figures 4-6 show further variants of the innovation. In the figures, 20 represents the toilet bowl and 19 represents a wheelchair. In Figure 4, the swivel arm consists of a straight arm that is attached to the floor (or wall) of the building on the one hand and to the corner point of the base plate 10 on the other.

The storage position is shown with dotted lines.

Figure 5 shows an articulated lifting arm with parts 22, 23 connected by a hinge 21. This allows an even more compact storage position of the device to be obtained, as can be seen from the dotted position

In this version, the swivel arm is also mounted near the corner of the base plate.

Figure 6 shows a design in which the swivel arm is articulated on the one hand and on the other hand the joint is located in the middle of the base plate.

Figure 7 shows another version of the base plate according to the innovation. The base plate is designated as 41 overall. An electric motor is mounted therein, which is operated in a manner not shown and which drives an axle 43 via a reduction gear, to which a crankshaft is attached, which in turn engages a connecting rod 44. This connecting rod 44, which can be moved up and down, controls a plate 45, which contains rubber blocks 40.

By operating the motor 42, the rod 44 and thus also the plate 45 are moved up and down and braking can be effected by pressing down the blocks 40.

From the above it is clear that many variants are possible. It should also be understood that the innovation is not limited to use in combination with a toilet bowl.

To those familiar with the art, variants of the foregoing construction will be apparent, and it is intended that such variants be within the scope of the appended claims.

Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the fastening to the column comprises a fastening (9) articulated about a vertical axis. 3. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the column is an articulated column, a first part of which is attached to the pivot arm and the second part (12) of which is adjustably mounted in a vertical direction relative to the first part and is provided with lifting means (16). 4. Device according to claim 3, characterized in that the base plate (10) is mounted on the first part (11). 5. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the pivot arm comprises at least two arm parts (22, 23) which are articulated relative to one another about a substantially vertical axis. 6. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the braking means are mounted in at least one of the hinge points of the pivot arm. 7.
