In einen Gartenteich, dessen Wasser bei visueller Beobachtung klar erschien, wurde eine Filter-Vorrichtung mit dem Material gemäß des Herstellungsbeispiels eingesetzt. Bereits nach 5 Tagen zeigte das Filtermaterial eine deutliche bräunliche Färbung und die Wasserqualität war sichtbar verbessert, d.h. wesentlich klarer. Die Filter-Vorrichtung mit demselben Filtermaterial wurde 6 Monate lang im Teich belassen. Innerhalb dieser Zeitspanne übernahm der Filter auch bakteriologische Reinigungsaufgaben durch Ansiedlung von Bakterien, die z.B. Fischkot und Futterreste verarbeiten. Im vorliegenden Fall erschien das Filtermaterial nach 6 Monaten gesättigt. Es wurde jedoch wegen seiner biologischen Filteraktivität nicht entfernt, sondern weiteres Filtermaterial zusätzlich in die Vorrichtung eingebracht. Nach weiteren 6 Monaten wurde das zuerst eingefüllte Material entfernt, da nunmehr das nach 6 Monaten eingeführte Filtermaterial genug Bakterien angesetzt hatte, um die biologische Reinigung fortzuführen.
