Description

Adhesive adapter ring for frameless connection of spectacle lenses.

The invention relates to a frameless connection of commercially available sports glasses/sports sunglasses with lenses of the individual lens strength required by the wearer.

For a person who wears glasses, it is problematic to wear modern protective goggles, which consist of a continuous shield to cover the eyes.

Examples include: Oakley, Mumbo series; Bolle, Edge series Alpina, Gravity Zero/BelAir series etc.

Although most manufacturers offer interchangeable adapters for accommodating glass lenses, these systems have some serious disadvantages.

e.g.: The distance between the lens of the sports glasses and the eye increases considerably due to the adapter inserted between them (usually around 15mm). This reduces the coverage and wind turbulence can occur between the lens and the eye.

The windows tend to fog up in bad weather. To clean them again, you have to remove the adapter.

Due to these disadvantages, the usefulness of modern sports glasses is severely limited, at least for those who wear them.

The invention is based on the task of eliminating the disadvantages of conventional plug-in adapter systems highlighted above. One aim of the invention is to attach the wearer's corrective lenses to the "primary lens" without difficulty, but securely.

A further aim of the invention is to exclude unnecessary weight gain (due to conventional adapters). The adhesive adapters weigh only a fraction (approximately 0.6 g) of the conventional plug-in adapters.

The task and the aims underlying the invention can be solved or achieved by an adhesive ring/adapter (2) that firmly and immovably connects a part of the glasses (back of the sports glasses lens (3)) to the lenses ((l) - front). From an optical point of view, the following is important and indispensable:

1. The lenses of the sports glasses must be of high optical quality and have a base curve that is as rotationally symmetrical as possible. Lenses that only consist of a curved plate are unsuitable (e.g. Briko Shot).

2. The user must produce the lenses with exactly the same curvature (base curve) as the primary lens (safety glasses) being used. Only in this way is it possible to connect these lenses together without disruptive influences (Newton's rings, etc.).

3. The user can therefore process all types of single and multifocal lenses (with restrictions also bifocal lenses with a separate dividing line) if he takes all basic optical requirements into account. These include: correct lens strength, pupil distance, corneal vertex distance, grinding/gluing height according to the desired use.

The subject matter of the invention is explained with reference to the drawings using preferred embodiments. They show:

Fig.l a perspective view of a set consisting of a primary lens (sports glasses lens), the adhesive adapter and the lenses to be connected.

The edged lenses (1) are connected to the adhesive adapter (2) at the front. The unit (1+2) is connected to the primary lens (3) from behind, taking the decentration values into account.

The edged lens (1) is permanently connected to the primary lens (-3) from behind using the adapter (2) with self-adhesive tape. The frame (4) carries the primary lens.

Claims (1)

CLAIM FOR PROTECTION Adhesive adapter (molded ring made of a special transparent elastic material) for permanently connecting spectacle lenses to special sports or sunglasses, which due to their specific shape are not suitable for such lenses. In contrast to existing industrial solutions, the system described below does not require any glass support frame at all and is protected against fogging by hermetically sealing the space between the glass.
