SONNENKOLLEKTOR " : ··'-' Hans-Georg BaldszunSOLAR COLLECTOR " : ··'-' Hans-Georg Baldszun
State of the art: Conventional solar collectors for the thermal use of solar radiation usually consist of metal sheets with the darkest possible surface. The heat is transported either through the metal sheets themselves to a pipe system through which a heat transport medium flows, or the heat transport media flows directly over the metal sheets on the back or inside.
Problem: With these commercially available solar collectors, energy is lost due to heat reflection and suboptimal heat flow. The connection points between collecting plates and pipes with the heat transport medium are particularly problematic for the efficiency of the collectors.
Solution: Solar radiation penetrates through a transparent covering layer (Fig.l) into a heat collecting and exchange layer (Fig.2).
The heat collection, storage and exchange medium in this layer consists of spatial, heat-conductive structures or individual, black bodies that are arranged in several layers and around which a transparent heat transport medium flows. The stored heat energy is dissipated directly to a utilization point through this heat transport medium.
Thermal radiation that penetrates this layer is completely absorbed by the spatial structure or the layers of individual bodies. Solar and thermal radiation that penetrates the exchange layer is returned to the exchange zone by a reflecting layer (Fig.3) . The function of the reflector layer is reinforced by a heat insulating layer (Fig.4).
The individual exchange bodies or the spatial absorber structure must meet the following requirements: dark color, good thermal conductivity, good heat storage and the largest possible surface area with maximum volume. A suitable heat transport medium must be able to flow freely between the exchange bodies or within the exchange layer.
Vorteile einer räumlichen Sammel- und Austauschstruktur sind:Advantages of a spatial collection and exchange structure are:
Incident heat radiation is absorbed by the rugged, three-dimensional
Structure of the exchange layer completely absorbs and minimizes reflection.
Solar radiation or residual heat radiation that penetrates the exchange layer is reflected by the reflection layer.
High efficiency is achieved even with weak, diffuse or lateral solar radiation.
abgegeben.4. The exchange bodies, or the spatial exchange structures, are
Heat transport medium flows directly around it. Due to good heat conduction
Within the exchange bodies, the heat energy is evenly transferred to the heat transport medium.

Fig.2 shows the heat collection, storage and exchange layer, which is either made up of individual exchange bodies or consists of a spatial exchange structure.
Fig.3 shows the reflector layer, which is intended to return remaining solar and thermal radiation to the exchange layer and also has a heat-insulating function.
