Speicherkollektoren üblicher Bauart bestehen aus einem Gehäuse mit opaker Dämmung, einem rohrförmigen Wasserbehälter als Warmwasserspeicher und einer transparenten Abdeckung.Die solare Energie durchdringt die transparente Abdeckung und wird von der selektiven Beschichtung des rohrförmigen Speichers absorbiert, in Wärme umgewandelt und an das im Speicher befindliche Brauchwasser abgegeben.Hervorgerufen durch die rohrförmige Form des Speichers, ist die direkte absorbtive Oberfläche gering, auch wird die solare Strahlung durch die starke Krümmung des Rohres stärker reflektiert.Durch das ungünstige Verhältnis von Absorbtionsoberfläche zu Speichervolumen des rohrförmigen Speichers, ist die Wärmeübertragung auf das Speicherwasser verhältnismäßig gering.Storage collectors of the usual design consist of a housing with opaque insulation, a tubular water tank as a hot water tank and a transparent cover. Diese Neuentwicklung bedeutet, daß durch die größere Oberfläche und geringere Krümmung des OVAL-Speichers, bei Speicherkollektoren eine bessere Absorbtion der solaren Energieeinstrahlung und somit eine höhere Energieaufnahme erzielt wird.Durch die geringe Schichtdicke des Speicherwassers und die große Oberfläche des OVAL- Speichers wird eine wesentlich bessere Wärmeübertragung auf das Speicherwasser erreicht.Diese Konstruktion eignet sich besonders zur direkten Speicherwassererwärmung durch Solarenergie. Außerdem wird durch die Verwendung eines Oval-Rohres bei Speicherkollektoren die Bauhöhe reduziert.This new development means that the larger surface area and lower curvature of the OVAL storage tank means that storage collectors can better absorb solar energy and thus achieve higher energy absorption.
