Description
An important prerequisite for a smooth hunting operation is that the game emerges from the thicket at a time when the light conditions still allow it to be shot. Hunting roe deer is often made more difficult by the fact that bucks and older does in particular only emerge after the so-called "last light" when shooting is no longer possible due to the unfavorable light conditions. Attempts to lure the roe deer with food smells such as essential oils and similar substances are unsuccessful because such smells are perceived as foreign smells.
A lure that contains the sex-specific pheromones (sexual attractants) has, however, shown to be a reliable luring effect in territory trials. Such a lure imitates the natural smell of a buck and appeals to innate behavioral patterns. The effect of such a lure is explained by the fact that roe deer have innate olfactory and behavioral patterns, so-called innate triggering mechanisms (AAM), which drive them to a very specific search or appetitive behavior when they perceive this sexual smell.
This causes the game to exit as desired. This pheromone-containing lure triggers an active mechanism that can be used for hunting. This enables the hunter to lure the deer out of the thicket in a targeted manner for population assessment or hunting.
