Die Belagschienen sind in üblicher Weise dem Querschnitt der Stufen entsprechend an beiden Kanten rechtwinklig umgebogen, und zwar an der Vorderkante zweimal; dadurch sind an beiden Kanten Leisten c gebildet, die in den Beton o. dgl., solange er noch weich ist, eingebettet werden. Der die Trittfläche der Stufe ganz oder teilweise bedeckende Schenkel der Schiene oder Platte ist mit Nuten 0, u versehen, die im Querschnitt schwalbenschwanzförmig gestaltet und abwechselnd ihre schmalere offene und ihre breitere geschlossene Seite nach oben und nach unten kehren. In die nach oben hin offenen Nuten 0 werden im Querschnitt entsprechend gestaltete Leisten d aus Vulkanfiber, Linoleum oder aus einer anderen stumpfen und dabei haltbaren Masse geschoben, durch die das Ausgleiten auf dem Belag verhindert wird. Auf diese Weise ist es möglich, die ganze Treppenstufe mit dem Metallbelag zu bedecken, ohne daß das sichere Gehen auf der Treppe beeinträchtigt wird. In die nach unten hin offenen Nuten u dringt dagegen beim Auflegen der Schienen oder Platten die noch weiche Bettungsmasse der Treppenstufen ein, so daß nach deren Erhärten der Belag nicht nur mittels der Schenkel c, sondern auch durch die Außenflächen der Nuten 0 festgehalten wird.The covering rails are bent over at right angles in the usual way, corresponding to the cross-section of the steps, at both edges, namely twice at the front edge; as a result, strips c are formed on both edges, which are embedded in the concrete or the like while it is still soft.
