Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
Damit die Spannung zwischen den Endbürsten immerIn the usual arrangement of a DC high-voltage machine with a rotating field and stationary armature windings that are constantly in series, in which the ends of the windings are guided to a rotating commutator via brushes, the contact surfaces of the commutator, which is divided in the direction of the axis and the circumference, must be connected to one another. A scheme of these compounds is illustrated in Fig. Ι. a, b, c, d etc. mean the contact segments of the commutator that follow one another in the direction of the axis, ι, 2, 3, 4 etc. mean the contact surfaces that follow one another in the direction of the circumference. The coils of the resting, open armature windings 11, 12, 13 etc. are attached to brushes 21, 31; 22, 32 etc. that drag on the commutator. The current generated in the armature coils is taken off by the end brushes α and 0. So that the tension between the end brushes always
" gleich bleibt, müssen die Kontaktsegmente in geeigneter Weise miteinander verbunden sein."remains the same, the contact segments must be connected to one another in a suitable manner.
If the position of the brushes on the row of contacts 1 corresponds to a position in which voltages in the same direction are generated in the individual armature coils, the individual coils are connected to one another by the segments in the same sense of direction. If, however, the field has moved, for example, by a segment width, a voltage is generated in the last coil 16, the direction of which is opposite to that of the voltages generated in the other coils. On the commutator, the connection must now be made in such a way that the voltage generated in the coil 16 is added to the voltages of the coils 11 to 15 in the correct sense. The lamella O 1 and M 1 or Wi 1 and I 1 are no longer directly connected as before, but, as shown in row 2, O 2 with w 2 and M 2 with I 2 . In the next row of contacts 3, the direction of winding of the coil 15 is reversed. On the whole, it can be seen that three different types of segment connections are required, which must be produced according to a certain regularity, which leads to considerable constructional difficulties, especially because the connections of a longer series of contact surfaces are linked to one another.
These difficulties can now be avoided according to the invention by arranges auxiliary brushes between the main brushes connected to the armature coils, the are directly connected to each other. The order between main brushes and auxiliary brushes can be chosen in various ways. Two exemplary embodiments are shown in FIGS to 4 illustrated. These figures show that there are now only two types of segment connections occur that there are always only two such connections with each other are chained, so that in a maximum of four contact surfaces are combined as a group the can.
This results in an extremely simple and inexpensive design of the segment
mente. If you always arrange two contact surfaces on a lamella that extends axially over the length of four contact segments, which protrude over its web on one side by about the web width, then two such contact surfaces can be extended over a length of four segments Combine the lamellas with their four contact plates to form a unit. Such segment units are shown in FIGS. In FIG. 5, pairs of segments are shown as they can be used in the fields a x to - x of FIGS. 2 and 3, respectively. The pair of segments of Fig. 7, for example, suitable for fields on the type of contact plates n is 2 to q 2 of FIG. 3 or FIG. 4 segment pairs according to Fig. 8 finally are useful for fields on the nature of the contact surfaces M 2 to q 2 FIG. 2 or a x to d x of FIG. 4.
The segment pair of FIG. 5 is illustrated in section through FIG. 6. The webs of the Pairs of segments are generally isolated from one another by insulating spacers. An air gap is usually sufficient to electrically close the contact plates from one another separate. In individual cases, however, the segments of a segment pair can also be used connect with each other. This will be the case, for example, if one : mutating coil 14 in Fig. 1, row 2, in the / commutation by a resistor in wants to short-circuit. Depending on the size of the required resistance .des the segments together, for example by a bolt made of insulating material associate. In this case or when a resistor is switched into the armature circuit itself you can also use it to one of the segments in question give higher resistance that you can get the cross-section of the web between its contact plates "Reduced by millings, recesses and the like, or pieces with a high specificity ■ electrical resistance sets in.
Even if the number of brushes and thus the width of the commutator compared to the known Arrangement is somewhat enlarged, so this only plays an insignificant role compared to the fact that the construction of the commutator is considerably simplified and the operational reliability is considerably increased is, especially in view of the fact that the connections between the segments are simultaneous produced with the construction of the commutator in a simple and reliable manner and special confusing and difficult to attach connecting lines, Soldering points and the like are omitted.
