Funkenstrecke zur Erzeugung ultravioletter Strahlen.Spark gap for generating ultraviolet rays.
Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 17. Februar 1914 ab. Längste Dauer: 15. April 1928.Patented in the German Empire on February 17, 1914. Longest duration: April 15, 1928.
In order to carry out the method according to patent 284091 it has proven to be practical, to use different materials (e.g. metals and metal alloys) for the electrodes of the spark gap. Here shows it turns out that a high yield of ultraviolet rays can be obtained. ; Are both electrodes z. B. made of aluminum, you get a lot of chemical energy effective rays, but the formation of nitrogen oxides occurs during the discharge which absorb the radiation quite significantly.
The inventor has now found through experiments that the generated radiation of the Spark without the formation of nitrogen oxides, if different for the two electrodes of the same spark gap Material chooses. Is there e.g. B. the one electrode made of aluminum, it is on the one hand generates strong ultraviolet radiation, but on the other hand it becomes nitrogen oxides which absorb the rays quite considerably. Is now used for the other electrode e.g. B. nickel iron (Inwar) is used, a catalytic process occurs comes about, which prevents the formation of nitrogen oxides, as it is already known. In this way it is possible for the radiation generated to have an undiminished effect bring.
