Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for charging accumulator batteries, especially of lead batteries, with intermittent discharge, after the one predetermined upper threshold of the battery voltage, the charging current is interrupted and a circuit arrangement for carrying out the method.
From DE-P-u 1 638 085 a method for fast charging an electrical Known battery in which the charging current is supplied at intervals and in which in the interval pauses the battery lasts for a short, approximately constant adjustable period is discharged with a high current in each case. The charging intervals are each reached when a certain value of a characteristic variable that depends on the state of charge of the battery completed. In this way, the charging of the battery can be accelerated considerably, any polarization effects that may arise due to the high discharge current neutralize.
The cyclical discharge with approximately constant discharge intervals does not allow the voltage to be checked during the discharge phase.
An optimal ratio of charging intervals to discharging intervals is particularly in this way with a relatively small discharge current not to be achieved.
The invention has the object of specifying a method according to that between charging intervals with high current and discharge intervals with low current are provided, the ratio of charging intervals to discharge intervals the respective battery condition optimally is adapted; should in particular, the battery must be protected from overcharging.
The object is achieved in that after switching off the charging current the battery is discharged via an indicator until the battery voltage increases has reached the lower threshold value and that the ratio of charging intervals to discharging intervals depends on the condition of the battery.
The upper and lower threshold values are dependent on set the battery temperature.
In a preferred circuit arrangement for implementing the method Ahrens is the accumulator via a controllable charging switch to a rectifier to connect. The accumulator is via a temperature-dependent evaluation circuit connected to a threshold switch, which is connected to the control input via an amplifier of the charging switch is connected. An indicator is connected to the charging switch Battery terminals connected.
The subject matter of the invention is detailed below with reference to the figure explained.
Accumulator 1 is via the controllable charging switch 2 with an am AC connected rectifier 3 connected. In the charging circuit There is an overcurrent release 5 and an ampere meter between the accumulator and the charging switch 4 provided. The terminals of the accumulator 1 are temperature-stabilized Evaluation circuit 6 is connected to a threshold switch 7. The upper threshold serves as the switch-off signal, while the lower threshold value serves as the switch-on signal of the Charging current is used. The evaluation circuit 6 is through a compensation circuit of components with positive and negative temperature coefficients stabilized in such a way that that at low temperatures the charge off and charge on voltage values upwards and downwards at high temperatures shifts. Be like that for lead-acid batteries at a battery temperature of 20 0C the upper threshold value set to approx. 2.4 V and the lower threshold value to approx. 2.16 V / cell. The corresponding Values are at a temperature of -20 OC Z, 44 U (switch-off value) and 2.19 V. (Switch-on value). At a battery temperature of +50 0C, the charging current is at a voltage of 2.37 V per cell and interrupted at a voltage of 2.13 U / cell switched on again. In this way, one will always keep track of the battery temperature matched charge reached.
The output of the threshold switch is connected to an amplifier 8, which is connected to the control input of the charging switch 2. The charging switch 2 is connected to indicator 9, which when the charging circuit is open from the accumulator 1 is fed.
The arithmetic mean of the nominal charging current for a six-cell Lead-acid batteries have a nominal charge voltage of 12 volts and 6 amperes. While during the charging pauses, the battery is indicated via the illuminated indicator 9 and via the Discharge the excitation coil of the charging switch 2 with approx. 60 mA. The preferred indicator is a light emitting diode is used. The discharge lasts until the battery voltage has reached a value stored in the evaluation circuit 6 and the threshold value switch 7 reverses again, so that 8 charging switch 2 the charging circuit again via amplifier closes. When the switch is made, the indicator 9 and the battery charge also go out starts again. The threshold switch 7 is controlled by the rectifier 3 fed discriminator 10 stabilized. The frequency and length of the cycles are solely set by the battery so it is possible to add new ones as well to optimally charge aged batteries. The function of the charger and the state of charge the battery can be checked with the aid of the ammeter 4 and the indicator 9.
Due to the intermittent discharges with a small current, no damage to the battery occurs even with long-term charging.
It will reliably overcharge the battery and the related sas development prevented. The charge according to the invention The method therefore does not pose any risk to the user.
