Kohlenelektrode für Flammenbogenlampen.Carbon electrode for flame arc lamps.
Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 11. Mai 1913 ab.Patented in the German Empire on May 11, 1913.
It is known that titanium compounds give a very bright but restless arc, and that fluorine compounds have a sedative effect, and it is also suggested in order to obtain a bright and calm arc at the same time, permanent titanium fluorine compounds to use, which of course must contain another metal besides titanium. Calcium titanium fluoride for yellow and Certitanfluorid for giving white light, only processed with charcoal, in general very useful Electrodes.
Under certain conditions, however, especially when the electrodes are slowly being used up
1 S den, e.g. B. in lamps with an enclosed arc, the titanium fluoride of the earth metal evaporates at some distance from the arc, the vapors enter the arc unevenly and make it restless. It has now been proposed to remedy the unrest by means of an alkali compound, such as potassium or sodium titanium fluoride, which melts at a lower temperature than the titanium fluorides of the earth metals and keeps the latter in suspension.
B. aus:However, the sodium and potassium compounds give the sheet a yellow color, which z. B. is very annoying in street lighting. According to the invention is therefore by a barium compound suppresses the yellow color and creates a more daylight-like light. A good electrode is obtained e.g. B. from:
Certitanfluorid 35 Prozent,Certitanfluorid 35 percent,
Kaliumtitanfluorid 10Potassium Titanium Fluoride 10
Bariumfluorid 10 -Barium fluoride 10 -
Kohle 45 - .Coal 45 -.
B. aus:Barium compounds had to be used in titanium electrodes before tried, but was deterred by the low light output and also had did not try to use them alongside sodium or potassium compounds. The titanium fluorides However, the alkali metals also have the properties of emitting corrosive vapors, and are therefore used for the purpose of the titanium fluoride to keep the earth metals in suspension, advantageously through other alkali compounds replaced. Sodium silicate, sodium borate, sodium carbonate, ■ sodium tungstate have proven useful and molybdate. Also have potassium compounds, especially potassium borate proven itself. If the titanium fluorides are replaced by these last-mentioned compounds, so but one has to determine the behavior of the titanium fluoride of the earth metal to the other components change something. A good electrode is obtained e.g. B. from:
Certitanfluorid 37 Prozent,Certitanfluorid 37 percent,
Bariumfluorid 7Barium fluoride 7
Natriumsilikat 3Sodium silicate 3
Natrium wolf ramat. . 3Sodium wolf ramat. . 3
Kohle 50 ■ - .Coal 50 ■ -.
Instead of the coal, a mixture of known from the literature is advantageously used Soot and coke. 6 parts of carbon black and 44 parts of powdered coke make a good coal mix.
Even with strong deviations from the specified ratios, you still get good electrodes.
