Die Zeichnung stellt einen Funkenfang- und Löschapparat für eine Locomotive von circa
fünfzig Pferdekraft dar.The drawing shows a spark arrester and extinguishing device for a locomotive of approx

Durch den über der Mündung des Schornsteins A aufgehängten Kegel B werden die unverbrannten,
theilweise noch glühenden Kohlentheile (Funken) nach der Peripherie der oben trichterförmig erweiterten Schornsteinmündung
und von der überhängenden Haube C nach dem theilweise mit Wasser gefüllten Behälter D
geleitet, in welchem die Funken sowohl gelöscht als auch aufgefangen werden, während
die Feuergase und Dämpfe zum gröfsten Theil durch die ringförmige Oeffhung zwischen dem

werden. Das Füllen des Behälters D wird durch das Rohr F, welches mit dem Kesselspeiserohr
