Gleichzeitig wird der Gasstrom infolge der schräg abfallenden Richtung der Rippen entsprechend nach unten hin abgelenkt, denn das beim Übergang von einer Röhrenreihe zur folgenden durch den Auftrieb sich ergebende Aufsteigen der Heizgase ist nicht so groß wie die zwangläufige Ablenkung nach unten durch die schräg abfallenden Rippen. Infolgedessen hat der Heizgasstrom in dem Vorwärmer eine abwärts geneigte mittlere Stromrichtung, wodurch sich eine bessere Ausnutzung auch der unteren Teile der Vorwärmerröhren ergibt, da nunmehr auch diese Teile von den Heizgasen stärker bestrichen werden.
