Im Hauptpatent ist ein elektrischer Kehrwalzenantrieb beschrieben, bei dem der Arbeitsmotor mittelbar durch eine vom Hauptstrom erregte Hilfsmaschine kompoundiert wird. Die gleiche Hilfsmaschine kann auch für das mittelbare Gegenkompoundieren der Anlaßmaschine verwendet werden. Die Haupterregung des Arbeitsmotors der Anlaßmaschine erfolgt in beiden Fällen durch eine gemeinsame Erregermaschine. Die getrennten Erregermaschinen fallen ferner entsprechend kleiner aus als die frühere gemeinsame Erregermaschine. Ebenso wird die Kompoundierungsdynamo jetzt kleiner im Vergleich zu früher, da sie nur noch Zusatzwicklungen der Erregermaschine zu speisen hat.
