Bei Kanalöfen macht sich der Übelstand bemerkbar, daß die Luft an den Wänden des Kanals zu kalt. ins Feuer kommt. Die Ursache liegt einerseits darin, daß der Einsatz aus Gründen der Betriebssicherheit reichlich Spiel gegen die Brennkanalwände haben muß, andererseits darin, daß gerade diese wenig Gelegenheit bieten, Wärme aufzunehmen und abzugeben. Um diesem Übel zu steuern, werden nach der Erfindung die Wände des Kanalofens entweder mit Rippen oder Gitterwerk zur Vergrößerung der wärmeaufnehmenden und wärmeabgebenden Oberfläche versehen, oder es werden in den Wandungen Kanäle vorgesehen, die durch Rauchgase oder in anderer Weise beheizt werden, derart, daß die an den Wandungen entlang strömende Verbrennungsluft außer durch den Einsatz noch durch Wärmeabgabe von der Kanalwandung her beheizt wird.
