An Stelle der bisher den Appreturmassen für baumwollene Stoffe u. dergl. zugesetzten Füllmaterialien, wie Thon, Kalk u. dergl., benutzt der Erfinder fein gemahlenen Papierstoff, welcher, mit den Appreturmassen vermischt, in die Poren des Gewebes eindringt und dieselben ausfüllt, wenn solche mit einer derartigen Masse behandelt werden. Unter Papierstoff versteht der Erfinder jeden derartig zubereiteten Stoff, dafs aus ihm Papier sich herstellen läfst. Ein solcher Stoff kann also aus Lumpen, Holz, Stroh u. s. w. in der bekannten Weise gewonnen werden.
