Die Schutzhülse besteht aus einem aus Stahlblech gestanzten Theile und bekommt die Form, wie solche die Zeichnung in vergröfsertem Mafsstabe erkennen läfst. Bevor dieselbe in Gebrauch kommt, hat der Soldat das in der Mitte der Paraderiemen sich befindende Messingknöpfchen sauber zu putzen und wird hiernach die Schutzhülse einerseits mit der Hand, d. h. mit Daumen und Zeigefinger ertafst, mit den gegenüberstehenden Häkchen a b zuerst eingehakt, wie durch Fig. c zu ersehen, und das etwas aus einander zu ziehende Instrumentchen mittelst der Federkraft, die es besitzt, auch mit den anderseitigen Häkchen e d unter den qu. Knopf geschoben und auf diese Weise derselbe genügend verdeckt und sauber gebalten.. Dies letztere würde .ohne diese Schutzvorrichtung bei dem nun beginnenden Instandsetzen (mit Thon oder Lack) der Paraderiemen selbst höchst selten gelingen, weil der vorsichtigste Mensch immer einmal mehr oder weniger wieder darüberfahren und das Knöpfchen mit anfärben würde; und umgekehrt ist es, besonders bei schwarzem Lederzug, nicht zu verhindern, den auf das Knöpfchen gerathenen Läcküberstrich wieder zu entfernen, ohne den Putz des Paraderiemens dadurch zu beschädigen.The protective sleeve consists of a part stamped from sheet steel and is given the shape as shown in the drawing on an enlarged scale.
