Andererseits wirkt die Hitze der Wärmequelle c nächst der Schweißstelle a auf den zusammengeschweißten Metallkörper δ, δ1. Hat eine gute Verschweißung an der Nahtstelle stattgefunden, so wird die von der Wärmequelle ausströmende Hitze die beiden Thermometer d und e in gleicher Weise beeinflössen, das Wärmeleitungsvermögen wird also durch die Nahtstelle nicht gehemmt, und die Thermometer d und e werden den gleichen Wärmegrad anzeigen. Ist die Naht mangelhaft geschweißt, was z. B. auch durch Einschluß von Schlacken hervorgerufen wird, so äußert sich dies zufolge deren schlechteren Wärmeleitungs vermögen s dadurch, daß das Thermometer e einen niedrigeren Wärmegrad als das Thermometer d anzeigt.
