Abstract

The sound cine editor has two sound heads and one erase head, with the sound heads spaced by the amount of film between the cine gate and the sound head in a projector. 3. Purpose and state of the art

Modern film cameras record the sound associated with the image directly on a separate runway from the film. For technical reasons (jerky movement of the film in front of the image window) the sound recording head was placed 18 images in front of the recorded image. With each sound cut, 18 images of sound were cut away and at the end of one film scene there is the sound of the next film scene. As a result, for example, in a short scene like closing a door, the sound has to be cut out when the scene is cut out. This deficiency - the problematic synchronized editing - brought a number of scoring systems onto the market in recent years, which avoided the problem by copying the entire directly recorded sound onto a separate tape together with synchronous pulses or a specially perforated magnetic tape in order to find the remaining images with the help of counters and import aids after the image has been cut to play the film again.

4. Criticism of the state of the art and abandonment of the application

The future belongs to the piste tone, which ensures problem-free compatibility and demonstration. The future also belongs to the piste sound camera, as easy handling without additional tape recorders and fixed coupling of film image and sound are convincing.

The only system-related deficiency is the image-sound offset (with Super 8 it is 18 images according to the standard) when film processing with film editing. It is the task of this patent application to eliminate this deficiency.

5. Solution of the task

The problem is solved by a device that eliminates the image / sound offset and, after the film has been edited, restores the image / sound offset required for the presentation.

The device is suitable for mounting on a projector when it saves its own drive or for installation in a projector, cutting table, viewer or the like when further saving on sound heads. The device can also already be installed in developing machines.

Seen as a separate attachment unit for a projector, the device consists of two recording / playback heads (mono or multi-track) and an erasing head, which is located between the sound heads. The distance between the two sound heads corresponds to the image / sound offset of the recording camera (Super 8 = 18 images).

To eliminate the sound offset, the entire film is first projected forward. The sound offset is eliminated with the backward movement (back projection) of the film. The film runs past the tape head A, then the erase head and finally the tape head B of the device for which the patent is pending. Sound head A picks up the sound from the runway and sends it to sound head B via corresponding amplifier stages. On the film passing by the audio head 8, the sound tapped with the audio head A is recorded on the audio track that has been erased with the erase head L in the meantime. Since the distance between the sound heads corresponds to the distance between the image and sound shift, the sound that belongs to the image currently belonging to the sound head B is recorded on the runway with the sound head B.

After the sound has been played around, the film can be cut as desired, as the exact sound is cut with every film cut.

After the editing and editing of the film has been completed, it can be played back to the original image / sound offset. For this purpose, the film runs through the device for which a patent has been applied for, but in the opposite direction, i.e. the film images first pass audio head A, which is now switched to playback and, after passing the erase head, audio head B, which is now on recording. 8. Further design

- The device can be built to operate manually or fully automatically according to the current state of technology.

- With special heads, several tracks can be edited or mixed.

- Additional heads such as one or more fixed or movable playback or recording heads next to sound head next to sound head A or B provide echo and reverb options.
