Diese Abdeckung, die zweckmäßig durch einen auf die Länge der Stützschienen ganz oder teilweise durchgehenden Deckel bewirkt wird, der mittels Verschraubungen, Verkeilungen, Verschweißung o. dgl. mit der Stützschiene verbunden ist, erfüllt dabei nicht nur den Zweck, die Kühlwasserrohre und deren Halter vor der zerstörenden Wirkung der Heizgase zu schützen und die Stützschienenschenkel vor dem Verziehen zu bewahren, sondern dient gleichzeitig auch zur Unterstützung der Kühlrohre und zur Erzielung einer guten Anlage der Kühlrohre an die sie umgebenden Kühlflächen.
