Abstract

This device for wind propelled skiing or ice-or roller-skating consists of a sail fitted to a mast (1) whose foot is loosely held in a quiver (4) strapped to the skaters lower leg, close to the ankle. The quiver is sufficiently wide to allow the mast to be manoeuvred by means of the handling bar (2) as required. Should the mast be allowed to fall, the foot will fall free of the quiver without taking the leg with it, thus avoiding any danger to the skater. As this sail is fitted to the leg, thus independent of the skates, this enables the skater to use normal skates allowing one leg to remain free for undependent steering, or manoeuvring.

Dies ist insofern überraschend, als man annehmen mußte, daß es für die Technik darauf ankommt, daß ein mehr oder weniger starres Dreiecksverhältnis zwischen den Füßen und der Mastabstützung besteht, so daß beide Beine in gleicher Weise an der Übertragung der Fegelkräfte beteiligt sind. Denn man muß ja bedenken, daß der Sportler je nach seiner Stellung zur'Windrichtung den Mast des Segels einmal auf der rechten und einmal auf der linken Seite des Segelangriffspuriktes hat. Beim normalen Windsurfen ergeben sich dabei im wesentlichen symmetrische Stellungen. Diese Symmetrie wird durch die Erfindung aufgegeben. Läßt man den Mast fallen, so fällt das Fußende aus dem Köcher heraus. Die Halterung kann starr vorgesehen sein (beispielsweise in Verbindung mit dem zugehörigen Schlittschuh 6).
