Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMTPATENT OFFICE
The present invention relates to innovations which I have applied to the patent no. 20257 protected adjustable sleeves for changing the free bristle length of brushes attached have. In Fig. 9 and 10 of said patent, a brush is shown, the sleeve is conical and slotted at its lower end and which by one as well conical ring is compressed, while guard plates at the slot points which prevent hairs from passing through the slits of the sleeve. I have simplified this sleeve as shown in the accompanying drawing.
Der Hebel/ greift einestheils hinter den Stift i der Hälfte g1, anderentheils hinter den Stift h der Hälfte g. 1 and 2 show a conical sleeve consisting of two parts aa 1, which parts are connected to one another by a hinge at d and overlap at the opposite end so far that no slot is created through which the bristles can pass. This conical sleeve is narrowed to a greater or lesser extent by a likewise conical ring b , depending on whether the ring b is pushed higher or lower, the two halves α a l naturally overlapping one another more or less. This enables the tuft of bristles to be compressed more or less, and thus the free one. Length of the bristles can be made longer or shorter, depending on the sleeve is attached to the tuft of bristles. The upper edges of the sleeve halves are slightly bent to prevent injuries when handling the brush. Instead of connecting the two halves with one another by a hinge, one can also simply let the parts of the sleeves cc, Figs. 3 and 4, engage over one another. In this case, the sleeve itself could consist of a single piece, but would then have to be sufficiently elastic to enable the brush to be inserted. In the case of larger brushes, the sleeve could also consist of more than two parts c . In any case, however, the conical ring b is to be used to press the parts firmly onto the tuft of bristles. With certain types of brushes, where the sleeve only needs to be adjusted within certain narrow limits, the lever lock shown in FIGS. 5 and 6 can also be used instead of the ring. Here only the lever / is rotatably connected by a pin to the sleeve half g , which engages over the sleeve half g l. The lever / engages partly behind the pin i of half g 1 , and partly behind the pin h of half g.
