Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Splint,The subject of the invention is a split pin,
dessen aus dem Loch heraustretende Enden sich von selbst spreizen und ein zufälliges Herausfallen des Splints aus dem Loch verhindern. the ends of which protruding from the hole spread by themselves and an accidental one Prevent the split pin from falling out of the hole.
The subject of the invention is shown in the drawing in an exemplary embodiment shown. Fig. Ι is a diagrammatic representation, Fig. 2 such a side view,
ίο und Fig. 3 zeigt den Splint in Anwendung an einer Welle.ίο and Fig. 3 shows the split pin in use on a wave.
Split pins of this type are usually used as linchpins for bolts, shafts, and the like to secure against longitudinal displacement or to hold other parts on them. you will be usually from a U-shaped piece of metal wire or metal band bent together and forming a ring in the middle manufactured. While now with the well-known split pins both legs on their whole Length parallel to each other and consequently the protruding from the hole Leg ends must be bent apart by a tool when the split pin to be secured in its position are, according to the invention, to the ring-shaped Middle part 1 adjoining leg 2 on the greater part of its length not directed parallel, but they meet shortly before their end at an angle, and only their two ends 3 are parallel and close to one another. The ends 3 of the split pin can therefore easily be inserted into a hole 4 of a shaft or rod 5, with the diverging main parts 2 of the legs press against each other as they advance further and the ring part 1 is closed. If the cotter pin is completely driven into the hole, so that the leg ends 3 emerge on the other side, they spread as a result of Buckles 6 to the outside and in this way automatically prevent the Splints or a falling out of the same from the hole without a tool to break apart must be introduced between them. If you want to improve the fastening of the split pin, you can use the Bend both ends 3 slightly further by hand.
The split pin shown in the drawing is made from a metal strip with flat inner surfaces manufactured; of course, however, metal wire or metal tape can be of any desired type Cross-section can be used.
