Abstract

A pathogenic fungi are controlled using blood or haemoglobin as the fungicide. Blood esp. animal blood (e.g. ox blood) has fungicidal activity as has the haemoglobin obtd. from it. Both substs. also exhibit bactericidal activity. These natural prods. are environmentally acceptable and non-toxic. They avoid the undesirable side effects of many synthetic fungicides e.g. mutagenicity, tetatogenicity, carcinogenicity. Haemoglobin acts against pathogenic plant fungi e.g. Rizoctonia solani and Pernospora. Ox blood inhibits the growth of moulds on glucose agar as does haemoglobin.

Description

Methods of combating pathogenic fungi health and development of humans, animals and plants are often infected with pathogenic fungi impaired. Natural materials like wood, leather and textiles are made by Microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria are damaged, sometimes completely destroyed. The same thing applies to food and feed.

There are a variety of active ingredients that can help you Protects animals, plants, materials and food. It is predominantly around synthetic products from almost all classes of inorganic and organic Links. For example, the spectrum in crop protection ranges from metal salts (copper / manganese / iron) from organic and inorganic sulfur compounds to complex synthetic ones Systems such as benzimidazole and phthalimide derivatives.

Chlorine compounds are also often used, for example im Wood protection.

Eine Vielzahl synthetischer Wirkstoffe hat unerwünschte Nebenwirkungen.A large number of synthetic active ingredients have undesirable side effects.

They pose a risk to people when handling and spreading. Synthetic systems pose a threat that has been identified especially recently because of certain side effects such as mutagenicity, teratogenicity, carcinogenicity etc. can only be determined after prolonged use.

It has now been found that blood, especially animal blood such as bovine blood has fungicidal effectiveness. The hemoglobin obtained from it is also fungicidal. Both substances also have a bactericidal effect. But the advantage lies in the special in the fungicidal action against harmful microorganisms.

The natural products have the following advantages. They are environmentally friendly and they conclude a long-term toxicity to humans, Animal and plant.

The effectiveness was tested on different types of fungus and mixtures of fungi examined.

Bovine blood inhibits the growth of mold on glucose agar. Hemoglobin also shows an application concentration of 0.01-1% very good effect against mold.

Hemoglobin also surprisingly has a good effect against phytopathogens Mushrooms. Rizoctonia solani and Pernospora can be combated with success.

Glucose-Agar Als Nährboden für nachfolgende Beispiele wurde Glucose-Ag!ur der Firma Merck AG, Darmstottf Art.Nr. 5268 verwendet.Glucose agar Glucose agar was used as a nutrient medium for the following examples from Merck AG, Darmstottf Art.No. 5268 used.

It is prepared by adding 41 g of the powder to one liter cold, freshly distilled or fully demineralized water. By shaking it up extensively the powder is evenly distributed and after a short standing to a swelling of the agar-agar to achieve, with occasional rocking until complete Solution boiled. Thereafter, it is sterilized by heating to 100 ° C. for 30 minutes.

The composition is as follows: meat extract 3 g per liter of peptone 10 g D (+) glucose 10 g sodium chloride 5 g agar 13 g "" The pH of the ready-to-use NLLrboden at 32 OC is 7.2 - 7.4.

Example 1 10 culture dishes with a diameter of 8 cm become coated with the nutrient medium described above to a thickness of 3 mm. To cooling to room temperature - the breeding ground becomes solid - Half of the glass dishes on the surface are filled with hemoglobin (protease substrate according to Anson, Merck, Art. No. 4300 LAB). The concentration of hemoglobin is 0.25% by weight based on the nutrient medium used.

The bowls are now placed together in an incubation chamber. At high Humidity (95-100%) and a temperature of about 27 -28 OC were the bowls Incubated for 8 days.

This showed up on the untreated nutrient medium after about 36 hours the first shoot cells. After 3-4 days the area of the nutrient medium was approx. 80% overgrown. The culture medium treated with hemoglobin showed itself up No waking up for 8 days.

Example 2 The culture medium is prepared as described above. The concentration of bovine blood was in the still 60 - 65 ° C warm medium of 1%, 5% and 10% stirred in. Also, a number of bowls got cold with Treated bovine blood.

Nach 8 Tagen war der unbehandelte Nährboden bewachsen. After 8 days, the untreated nutrient medium was overgrown.

In the samples to which 1 and 5% by weight bovine blood were added at 60 - 70 Or the growth began 1-2 days later than the untreated clay.

In the samples treated cold with 1.5 and 10% by weight, there was no growth even after 7 days; the same was true of the samples which had been treated hot with 10 »bovine blood. Comparative experiments for glucose i growth of molds agar media in petri dishes a) 4 bowls, untreated, overgrown after 7-10 days b) 3 dishes with 1% by weight of cattle - no growth after 10 days blood cold in relation to the culture medium treated c) 4 dishes with 10% by weight cattle} after 10 days no growth blood or nutrient medium 60 - 70 OC treated
