Abstract
Description
Mold for making foamed plastic articles The present The invention relates to a mold for producing foamed plastics material of flowable reactants with at least one separated by a dividing surface Cavity enclosing moldings.
In the production of foamed plastic articles from flowable Reactants, it is necessary to mix the reactants in an appropriate manner to dose in the desired mold cavity so that the plastic article the the desired density, this takes place in the usual way by that the reactant mixture emerging from a mixing unit directly into the mold cavity is poured. The metering of the material is controlled by the discharge rate given from the mixing unit. Are using this known procedure To manufacture several plastic articles, one must proceed in such a way that one mold cavity fills separately with material. It is not possible to branch the reactant mixture over To dose material supply candles from a mixing unit into several mold cavities, since there is no possibility of maintaining the necessary amount per mold cavity consists. Proceeding in this way one obtains plastic articles that are different Have spatial weights, since more material gets into a mold cavity than into one others. In addition, the known method is already disadvantageous if only one plastic article is to be produced, since that comes from the mixing unit exiting reactant mixture first in a thick and when turning off in one thin jet into the mold cavity, with the flowing off in a thin jet Reactant mixture to foam earlier due to the lower heat capacity begins, and thus either a different willingness to react in the in the mold cavity metered amount of material must be accepted or one that forfeited any remaining material running off the mixing unit. The latter means not only a loss of material, but also considerable contamination of the Workplace.
The aim of the invention is a mold for the production of foamed plastic articles, which can be loaded with material easily, precisely and quickly, while at the same time the possibility is given, several mold hollow spaces via a material supply channel with the to fill the desired amount of material.
This is achieved according to the invention in that the molded parts by Moving at least one molded part along the separation surface in such a way against one another are designed to be displaceable so that the cavity (s) is divided into two chambers is (are) divided, with one of the chambers being designed as a metering chamber.
The metering of the reactant mixture into the metering chamber Chamber or chambers can now be accessed directly via the corresponding MbteriolzufUhrungskondle take place. The necessary volume is not set by adjusting and turning off the mixing unit, but is limited by the fill content of the Dosing room. This is a major advantage, as the reactants mix on this Way # be dosed much more precisely and with a homogeneous readiness to react can. The plastic articles produced in such forms are therefore in their Properties are reproducible and are not subject to such large variations as di @@ was the case according to the known procedures.
It is particularly advantageous if in a form with more than one Cavity, the comb, which is designed as a metering area, are connected to one another by angular edges are. The reactant mixture is then introduced into and passed into the first chamber from there to the next, etc.
bis zur letzten Kammer, die gegebenenfalls eine Überlauföffnung aufweisen kann, durch in überschüssiges Material aus tritt.to the last chamber, which may have an overflow opening can leak through in excess material.
The shape according to the invention is particularly simple and functionally reliable because if the cavity (the Hohlr @ ume) is designed as a mold cavity (Fornhohlrdu) are. In this case it becomes part of it Space as Dosing space used, which on the one hand makes a particularly efficient design the shape and quick operation is enabled and thereby on the other hand the necessary maintenance work is reduced to a minimum. Is important with this embodiment also that there are only a few moving parts, whereby the Functional reliability is significantly increased, since the reactant mixtures in question, e.g. polyurethane-forming mixtures have a low viscosity and in each Penetration of the joint, which in the case of moving parts always causes problems of adhesion and tightness has the consequence.
If you want to avoid a horizontal separating surface through the cavity, or is this designed in such a way that a part is designed as a metering chamber led to difficulties, it is advisable if in each case as a dosing room formed chamber a piston displaceable for transferring the metered reactants is arranged in the other, each designed as a mold cavity chamber. In this The trap is the mixture of reactants introduced into the metering chamber by means of the piston transferred into the mold cavity, with the pushing surface of the piston as part the wall of the mold cavity is formed.
A particularly advantageous process for the production of foamed Plastic articles in a form according to the invention consists in that a) the molded parts are offset against each other by moving in such a way that they act as a dosing space serving chamber (s) is (are) not in connection with the rest of the cavity, b) the metering chamber with free-flowing reactants before they increase in volume begin to react is filled, c) the moldings are moved so that the both chambers form the desired mold cavity, d) the material by causes suitable temperature control for foaming and filling of the mold cavity and e) the mold is opened and the plastic article (s) removed from the mold. This Method allows several essentially completely identical ones at the same time Manufacture plastic articles, which in comparison to known methods does not only a substantial standardization and quality improvement is achieved, but also a multiple increase in output per unit of time.
Another convenient method of making foamed Plastic articles in a mold consists in that a) the molded parts by moving are offset against each other in such a way that the chamber (s) serving as the dosing chamber is (are) not connected to the rest of the cavity, b) the dosing chamber with flowable reactants before they begin to react with an increase in volume is filled, c) the moldings are moved so that the two chambers in the desired position, d) transferring the material from the metering chamber into the mold cavity e) the material by suitable temperature control for foaming and filling of the mold cavity and f) the mold is opened and the plastic article (s) be demolded. This procedure is particularly advantageous when the arrangement a parting surface that goes through the mold cavity is undesirable.
In the following the invention is exemplified with reference to the drawings explained in more detail: FIGS. 1, 2, 3 and 4 show cross-sections through an inventive Shape.
In Fig. 1 is a mold for the production of foamed plastic articles shown, those from the molded parts 1 and 2, which are separated by a separating surface 3, consists. The molded part 1 is designed as an upper mold part, the molded part 2 as a lower mold part. According to the illustration in FIG. 1, the lower part of the mold is in relation to the upper part of the mold in a displaced state so that the chambers 5 and 6 do not communicate with each other. The chambers 6, which are designed as metering spaces, are filled with a mixture of reactants, which is fed through channels not visible in the section shown. After the end of the dispensing process, the lower part of the mold 2 is so different that 2jass the walls of the Chambers 5 and 6 get in an aligned position # The reactant mixture foams now on and fills the cavity 4. When the foaming process is finished, the Molded parts 1 and 2 lifted from each other and the plastic articles produced are removed from the mold after the lower plate 12 or the upper plate 13 has been removed. The demolding can of course also be done in other ways, depending on whether additional Format splits exist or not. If necessary, the dosing space can be a Have overflow opening through which excess material can escape. To The mold cavity and the material feed channels must be cleaned after demolding and provided with release agent.
In FIGS. 3 and 4, a shape is shown analogously to FIGS. 1 and 2, however, the metering space that is formed by the chambers 10, not for Mold cavity ~ which is formed by the chambers 9 belongs to it, but the reactant mixture after it was filled into the chambers 10, transferred into the chambers 9 by means of the piston 11 will.
This transfer takes place in the position shown in FIG Molded parts 7, 8 to one another.
The simple execution of the mold cavities shown in the figures is only exemplary and does not represent any limitation.
The piston can of course also be designed differently, essentially is for the invention only that the material is first dosed into a chamber 10 and then after this chamber 10 has been brought into the appropriate position for the mold cavity was transferred in these - patent claims -
