Bisher bediente man sich bei der Behandlung von Knochenbrüchen, Knochenregenerationen, Hüftgelenkentzündungen des Gypsverbandes, um den afficirten Körpertheü in unbeweglicher Lage zu erhalten. Dieses System bietet bedeutende Uebelstände; es gestattet nicht, dem in Gyps liegenden Gliede Bewegungen zu machen, erschwert die Behandlung, verhindert, den Verlauf der Krankheit zu beobachten, und mufs bei complicirten Fällen oder, wenn der Bruch sich verrückt hat, völlig losgenommen werden.
