Abstract

The chair is constructed basically as a standard chair wherein the seat (10) is detachably fastened to the chair frame whilst an additional seat panel (16) is mounted halfway up the back rest where it is possible for it to be suspended from the arm rests by means of side members. It can however be braced against the back rest frame members by tensile straps or rods (17) which have fastening members which engage round the front and back of the frames. Since the main seat panel (10) is detachable it can be lowered from the normal seat position to act as a foot rest when the additional seat (16) is in use. As the child grows up the additional seat can be dispensed with and the foot rest returned to the original seat position.
