Abstract

The design is an improvement to 2363891 and permits the use of a single eccentre shaft to actuate both inlet and exhaust valves. The valve operating shaft (2) has a crank (3) which when rotated lifts and lowers a connected bar (4). The bar has a roller (6) on one side of its free end and a cam face (5) on the opposite. The cam face presses against a rocker arm (7) pivoting on a shaft (17) to open and close the exhaust or inlet valve in the usual way. The connected rod roller presses against a wedge shaped piston (9) which is located in a bore in the valve cover housing and secured by a spring loaded set screw (15).
