Abstract

Safety belt comprises structures which, on application of tensile force in the longitudinal direction, yield by an amount proportional to the tensile force. The structure consists of a folded portion of the belt retained by two spaced rows of stitches of which the first row may be ripped out by a given force and the second row, which is centrally located on the folded portion, by a lesser force. The folded portion may be disposed opposite another folded portion on the opposite side of the belt. The belt includes stretchable fibres made of nylon, vinylon or polyester.
