Bei Flachstrickmaschinen beträgt die Teilung jedoch zumeist 14 Nadeln/Zoll. Bei Cottonflachwirkmaschinen beträgt die Teilung jedoch 16 Nadeln/Zoll. Wenn das Strickgut zunächst auf Maschinen mit einer Teilung von 14 Nadeln/Zoll gestrickt und anschließend auf die Nadeln der Cottonflachstiickmaschine übertragen werden muß, war das Abwerfen und manuelle Aufstoßen der Ware durch spezialisiertes Fachpersonal erforderlich. Durch die Schwenkung der Aufnahmestifte kann auf einfache Weise die letzte Maschenreihe eines Strickgutes von den eine bestimmte Teilung aufweisenden Nadeln einer Flachstrickmaschine auf die Nadeln einer anderen Ma schine mit anderem Teilungsmaß übertragen werden Durch die Anordnung der Teilungsmaßeinstellkämme und deren Zuordnung zu den Aufnahmestiften lassen sich diese einfach schnell und in wohldefinierten Stellungen von dem einen Teilungsmaß auf das andere umstellen.
