The invention relates to alginate preparations which are used as inhibitors against the precipitation of calcium salts Contain diphosphonic acids or their water-soluble salts.
It is known to produce preparations based on alginates, which can be used, for example, as means for a slimming diet Find. These alginate preparations create a feeling of satiety due to their swelling in the gastrointestinal tract in humans. The alginate preparations, however, have a considerable disadvantage because they form with the calcium ions poorly soluble precipitates. This can possibly lead to a depletion of calcium, especially in the intestinal tract. For this reason, the fear has often been expressed that this could lead to metabolic disorders.
This can be achieved by alginate preparation, ions used, which are characterized in that they are used as an inhibitor against the precipitation of calcium salts Diphosphonic acids of the general formulas I and II

oder deren wasserlösliche Salze enthalten, wobei R einen Alkylrest mit 1 bis 7 C-Atomen und R1 ein Wasserstoffatom oder eine Methylgruppe bedeuten.or contain their water-soluble salts, where R is an alkyl radical having 1 to 7 carbon atoms and R 1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group.
It has been shown that it is in itself possible to form calcium alginate by adding strong complexing agents such as nitrilotriacetic acid or ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid to prevent. As a result, however, the calcium ions are so strongly masked that they may no longer be used for physiological processes are available. The precipitation of the calcium salts can also last for a considerable time Compounds - with a strong inhibiting effect (threshold effect) be prevented. In this case, crystal growth is likely due to the incorporation of the inhibitor into crystal nuclei very strongly inhibited. Compounds with a threshold effect are, in particular, polyphosphates with a chain structure and complexing phosphonic acids such as methylphosphonosuccinic acid or 2-phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid. However, condensed phosphates are suitable for this use not suitable because they are broken down by phosphates in the body to ineffective monophosphate. However the investigations have shown that most of them are under the physiological conditions prevailing in the intestinal tract complex-forming phosphonic acids are not sufficiently effective or unsuitable. It was therefore surprising that the Above-mentioned diphosphonic acids of the general formulas I and II or their water-soluble salts for the solution of the Task are suitable. L-Hydroxyethane-ljl-diphosphonic acid, l-hydroxypropane-1,1-diphosphonic acid, Proven l-hydroxybutane-l, l-diphosphonic acid and 1,1-diphosphonopropane-2,3-dicarboxylic acid.

Instead of the acids mentioned, their pharmacologically acceptable water-soluble salts such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, ammonium and substituted ammonium salts, ie mono-di- or triethanolamrionium salts, can also be used. Both the "partial salts thereof, in which only a portion of the acidic proton is replaced by other cations can be used, but are partial salts, which are in aqueous solution in the pH range of 6 to 8.5 y preferred. Mixtures of the abovementioned Acids or their salts can also be used.
The dosage of the inhibitors in the alginate preparations is variable. However, it must be sufficient to cause the precipitation the calcium salts present in the intestinal tract and, if applicable is added by the aqueous solution of the alginate preparation due to the hardness of the water, to inhibit. At a Experience has shown that an amount of 10 g of alginate is about 100 to 200 mg of inhibitor. From the initially explained For reasons, however, the amount of inhibitor is preferably measured in this way be that it is present in sub-stoichiometric amounts.
Commercially available products in the form of alginic acid or the corresponding alkali salts can be used as the alginate. Ammonium, potassium and, preferably, sodium alginate are suitable as alkali salts. The preparations can be produced for administration in the form of tablets, pills or as a powder and contain conventional substances such as sodium bicarbonate or Na 2 HPOiI and binders for producing tablets. Flavorings, vitamins and sugar-fruit concentrates can also be used as additives in the production of agents for a slimming diet.
The means according to the invention ensure that precipitation or an excessive sequestration of the calcium salts is prevented and the uncomfortable properties of the remedies even for sensitive persons People is greatly improved.

Nach endgültiger Auffüllung wurden folgende Konzentrationen pro Liter Alginatlösung erreicht:In order to test the effect of the compounds which can be considered as inhibitors, the following experiments were carried out. 600 mg of sodium alginate were slowly mixed in 50 ml of a solution of sodium bicarbonate, Na 2 HPO ^ and the inhibitor indicated in the table below. After the final filling, the following concentrations per liter of alginate solution were achieved:
6 g Alginat6 g alginate
0,075 g Inhibitor0.075 g inhibitor
2 g HCO3" 0,1 g "2 g HCO 3 "0.1 g"
The concentration of bicarbonate and hydrogen phosphate corresponds roughly to the inorganic composition of the intestinal juice. The solution had a pH of 8. As soon as the sodium alginate was homogeneously dissolved, 50 ml of water were added, so that a calcium hardness of 20 ° d.H. in the solution. was achieved. The precipitation of calcium alginate makes itself through a increased gelatinization or noticeable clumping, which can easily be caused by settling when the sample is shaken can be observed on the vessel walls.
The blanks were also made with the bicarbonate hydrogen phosphate solution scheduled. The results are given in the table below. The results are with the Products according to the invention in Table 1, those listed with the comparative products in Table 2. They make it clear that the desired effect is not achieved with other, sometimes very similarly complexing compounds.
