Abstract

The attachment for firing of gyrojet rockets can be fitted to barrels of rifles and pistols. This attachment widens the scope for use of gyroject rockets and extends the field of application of conventional small arms. The firing pin in the attachment is activated by the light projectile such as a pellet of an air gun or by the propellant gases ejected from a firearm using a blank cartridge. A steel tube is mounted on the barrel and it contains a permanent magnet for holding the gyrojet rocket in the launching tube, for holding and guiding the gas actuated firing pin and for acting as reaction pad. The magnet slots for allowing escape of the rocket gases. The firing pin initiates the gyrojet rocket and it is withdrawn by its spring.
