The invention relates to a watch case, in particular a Wrist watch case with a gold hue.
Well-known watch cases with a gold hue have a coating made of gold / thereby a corrosion protection and a good one to make an optical impression. However, since the gold alloys used for the production of the gold plating are soft, the Disadvantage that the support can be damaged relatively easily can, as a result of which the good visual impression and also the corrosion protection are impaired.
It is therefore the object of the invention to provide a watch case with a gold hue that is made of a metallic alloy with a gold hue, so that no gold plating is required, and an improved abrasion resistance of the surface of the Watch case is guaranteed.
Diese Aufgabe wird bei einem Uhrgehäuse mit Goldfarbton erfindungsgemäß dadurch gelöst, daß es aus einem Sinterhartmetall besteht, das weniger als 30 Gewichtsprozent Bindemetall in Form von mindestens einem der Metalle Nickel, Kobalt oder Eisen enthält, undThis object is achieved according to the invention in a watch case with a gold hue in that it is made from a sintered hard metal consists, which contains less than 30 percent by weight binder metal in the form of at least one of the metals nickel, cobalt or iron, and

daß der Rest Tantalkarbid ist. Vorzugsweise enthält das Sinterhartmetall ferner weniger als 5 Gewichtsprozent mindestens öiner der Elemente Molybdän, Titan, Chrom, Vanadium, Niob, Tantal, Wolfram oder Zirkon.that the remainder is tantalum carbide. The cemented carbide preferably contains also less than 5 percent by weight of at least one of the elements molybdenum, titanium, chromium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, tungsten or zircon.
Such a watch case not only has a relatively good gold color, but is also considerably more abrasion-resistant than gold plating .
As is well known, tantalum carbide has a high melting point of 3880 ° C. and a Vickers hardness of 1800 HV and has long been known as Hard material known for cemented carbides. However, cemented carbide containing tantalum carbide could not be used for the production of Watch cases or similar jewelry items are used because the tantalum carbide grains have a dark yellow-brown color. However, it has been found through experiments that the hue and hardness of a tantalum carbide-containing cemented carbide, which contains nickel, cobalt or iron as a binding metal, itself with the composition the alloy changes. Table 1 shows the result of such tests, the color shade depending on the composition an alloy is specified which contains tantalum carbide as hard metal and nickel as binding metal.

These results show that it was not possible to determine a critical composition by which a gold hue can be produced because the hue progressively changed with the composition of the cemented carbide alloy, which contained tantalum carbide and nickel. It has been found, however, that the hue of an alloy is greater than 30 percent by weight Contains nickel as a binding ball, does not have a particularly good color tone, although the Vickers hardness was 700 HV. That is why the content of Nickel preferably to less than 30 weight percent in the alloy limited, resulting in a very good gold hue of the watch case, which even with a very long period of use because of the high Abrasion resistance is retained. Corresponding results can be obtained using cobalt or iron as the binding metal instead of nickel be achieved.
This is why very good watch cases with an attractive gold tone and very good corrosion resistance can be produced If an alloy of cemented carbide is used, the tantalum carbide is used as the hard metal and less than 30 percent by weight Contains nickel, cobalt and / or iron as binding metal.
There are certain difficulties in producing well-sintered alloys due to the use of only three metals such as nickel and iron and to produce cobalt because the density is less than the theoretical value. However, when other metals such as molybdenum, chromium, Niobium, tungsten, vanadium, tantalum, titanium or zirconium were added, each with 0.1-0.5 percent by weight of the alloy described above become, the sintered alloy becomes stronger and there are improved sintering properties, increased density and increased Flexural strength. Table 2 shows some test results with the addition of molybdenum.

In the table, D / Dt means the ratio of the density of the cemented carbide to the theoretical density.
From the second table it can be seen that the addition of molybdenum or similar metals to a stronger alloy with an increased density and flexural strength of a tantalum carbide alloy sintered with nickel, while an excessively large addition molybdenum reduces the flexural strength. It should therefore be noted that the molybdenum content should be less than 5 percent by weight got to. The reason for the increase in the density and flexural strength of the sintered alloy is to be seen in the fact that it is released during sintering Carbon in alloys containing tantalum carbide and nickel to which molybdenum is deposited. The same applies to the addition of other materials such as titanium, niobium, zirconium, tantalum, chromium, tungsten or vanadium.

Table 3 shows another example in which the total content of the binder metal is limited to 6 percent by weight, with the binder metal contains nickel as the main metal and 1 percent by weight chromium, tungsten or titanium. This experimental result also shows the increased density and flexural strength of this sintered alloy due to the addition of chromium, tungsten or titanium.
A watch case according to the invention therefore has a large size Hardness and a good gold color, as well as high abrasion resistance, so that the smooth surface is practically not scratched or corroded even after prolonged use.
